BDS Suspension Jeep KJ Build (Update 3)

Mike's back in the BDS R&D Shop this week checking on the progress of our Project KJ, a 2005 Liberty CRD being prepped for the 2013 Ultimate Adventure hosted by Petersen's 4WOR Magazine. To make room for the 40'' tires we plan to run we needed to make some room in the fenderwells. Starting with the front the inner fender was trimmed as we prepped a set of JK Rubicon Dana 44 axles with our mock up tires, 40" Maxxis Trepadors in place to get an idea of rides height, and full compression so we can begin designing the suspension for this little CRD powered Jeep. The plan is to keep the Jeep as low as possible, potentially running 3-4" of lift with plenty of droop from a multilink suspension and Fox coilovers. BDS 2012 JK Wrangler Exhaust Extensions

For the new 2012 JK Wranglers with the 3.6L, the exhaust crossover pipe is in close proximity to the front driveshaft. Even without a lift the driveshaft can come into contact with the exhaust at full droop. The BDS JK exhaust extensions relocate the crossover pipe rearward allowing for full range of motion with up to 3'' of lift.
The kit (#124314) includes a left and right machined extensions, longer 8mm bolts and washers available at bds-suspension.com or through your local BDS Distributor. Installation is a breeze and an be completed in a matter of minutes, but remember to be cautious, that exhaust may be hot!

2009 Outback Adventure Series - Stop 1 of 4 Eau Claire, PA

2009-2012 Ford F150 BDS 6'' Lift Kit

Available for the 2009-2012 Ford F150 is the new BDS high clearance lift. This will fit up to a 37x13.50'' tire on an 18''+ wheel with 4.5"-5.5" of backspacing. Several key features include:

BDS 6'' Lift Kit for 2009-2012 Dodge Ram 1500 Trucks

BDS offers both 4'' and 6'' lift kits for the 2009-2012 Ram 1500 trucks capable of clearing up to 37'' tires. This kit is based around two one-piece, 1/4″ laser cut high clearance crossmembers and replacement steering knuckles. High-clearance crossmembers increase ground clearance for off road performance in this new BDS Suspension lift kit. The replacement steering knuckles reduce installation time as well as maintain proper steering angles and ball joint angles. A differential skid plate and compression struts are included for off road protection. The system also includes bump stop drops, anti-sway bar links, 3 point differential drop system, strut relocation brackets, and front stainless steel brake lines. The rear is lifted via BDS exclusive Pro-Ride coils that are capable of being smashed totally flat and will come back to normal ride height. The rear is completed with a track bar bracket, upper link relocation brackets and sway bar links.

7'' High Clearance, No Torsion Bar Drop IFS Lift Kit for the 2001-2010 Chevy/GMC 2500HD Trucks.

BDS Suspension has release a 7 high-clearance IFS suspension system for the 2001-2010 Chevrolet 2500 HD. This new high-clearance design is a true blend of performance, appearance, and function. The suspension geometry creates an OE style ride with a desert racing appearance. These high arched crossmembers blend perfectly with the lower control arm angles to give a truly OE appearance while lifting your vehicle a full 7 and dramatically increasing ground clearance at the front crossmember. A heavy-duty front skid plate and differential skid plate is included for extreme off road protection. New narrow track knuckles are also included to minimize track width change. Rear lift options include a block or a full new rear leaf spring.

2001-2010 Chevy HD with BDS 7'' High Clearance Lift Kit

Available from BDS Suspension, the 7'' High Clearance, No Torsion Bar Drop Lift Kit for Chevy HD owners. This kit will allow you to run up to a 37'' tire. Available with this kit are the new BDS narrow track steering knuckles. These new knuckles widen the front track width less than 3/4in per side. The classic knuckles are still available for those that want to run a larger tire on stock rims.

The key features of this kit are:
-High clearance design
-No torsion bar drop.
-The torsion bar relocation bracket is a rigid bracket, mounted with 3/4in hardware.
-Front skid plate included

We have recently expanded our test area with the help of a dozer, excavator, and lots of 36 tire swallowing concrete blocks. These obstacles really work the suspension and put the components of the Jeeps to the limit. Going out and testing Jeeps makes the work day a whole lot better.

Update: We installed Superior Axles - Super 30 / 35 axle shafts with a Detroit locker in the rear and an ARB up front.

RTI Footage: 20 psi each tire, front sway bar disconnected using BDS Ultimate disconnects, measurements were taken with all tires on the ground (we went a little past in some of the footage you can see and a tire is hanging, but not for measurements). All shocks and rear sway bar were still hooked up -- no cheating!

6.5" Longarm kit: Our kit uses a 4 link with trackbar setup at each axle. We keep hearing that to get good flex you have to triangulate your control arms and get rid of the trackbar. I hope this shows the kind of numbers you can get when your suspension is setup correctly. The onroad driving manners of this jeep are amazing. You can drive it to the trails, wheel it, then drive it home.

This is our company TJ it has our 6.5" longarm kit all the other mods are listed above. It's a nice day outside and we were tired of sitting at our desks -- hope you enjoy.

This is the first in a series of new high-clearance IFS systems that are a true blend of performance, appearance, and function. Compared to most IFS systems, the new high-clearance crossmembers relocate the lower control arms exactly the same amount as the knuckles relocate the upper control arms. This means both the upper and lower control arms will be moving in the same arch as they were from the factory.
