In this video I have summarized the main steps of assembling the hub of the central axis of my radio-controlled model Astra HD7.
The time required was about one hour and 15 minutes to fill it with oil.
The weight of the axis without tires, with 250 ml of oil, is 7.5 kilograms (16.5 pounds).
The total reduction is 1/8.
After years of work I'm proud to show you my Astra 1/6th scale HD7 model's working powertrain.
Each piece that you see was built by hand, only the bearings, 3 universal joints, 6 brakes, screws and little else were purchased.
20 mm diam. drive shafts are stainless steel.
Brake levers that you see me pull by hand will be pushed by air pistons each one with a force of 13 kilograms (28.6 pounds)
Total weight of the complex is about 25 kilograms (55 pounds) excluding tires.
As soon as possible, the pieces will be sandblasted and painted.
I apologize for not having included captions, but gladly answer any questions.

I need some planetary gears for my model ...
I had an old battery-powered drill with this type of reduction, but unfortunately too high (1: 6) and non-standard metric module (0.7), so I decided to turn my lathe to a broaching machine ... I used the gears of my lathe that give me the chance to do almost all possible divisions. Now I can produce my own planetary gears with a 1:4 ratio!

When I started building my model, I already knew this job would have been the biggest stumbling block ... I thought I could find something suitable to my needs but it did not happen and in the end I had to build everything by myself.
