K1600 adaptive headlight demo
K1600 adaptive headlight demo

By putting the bike on the center stand, placing it in gear, and letting out the clutch, the function of the adaptive headlight can be demonstrated. It is tricked into scanning left and right by manually tilting the attitude/roll sensor under the rider's seat.

Miniature Aircraft Whiplash with Wren 44-K turbine
Miniature Aircraft Whiplash with Wren 44-K turbine

Whiplash turbine conversion using the very nice Hubschrauber.de kit designed by Inkos Modellsport. This is just the second flight. I never film on the first flight since there is already plenty of pressure/distractions. This second flight was short, landing with 40% fuel remaining. Although it's hard to tell from the video, the sun was setting behind the hills and it was getting quite dark. My flying was very tentative and careful, being only the second flight. Think of this as just a "proof of existence" for the heli for now. I'll come back with some more exciting flying under better conditions as I get more comfortable this new helicopter. So far the verdict is: awesome!

The engine is a MW44H which flew for over 3 years in a Bergen 44 Magnum. It went back to Wren to get the new internal kero-start upgrade so I guess it's correct to call it by the new 44-K designation.

BMW K1600GT K1600GTL Digital Dash
BMW K1600GT K1600GTL Digital Dash

A digital dashboard that plugs into the Nav slot providing digital speed (large digit), digital RPM, digital engine temperature, actual electrical system voltage, throttle grip position, throttle plate opening position, instantaneous fuel economy, and lean sensor readout.

The video quality is very poor (helmet cam doesn't focus on close objects) but I believe that the excellent readability of the device can be seen.

Amber running light conversion with lighted roundels BMW K1600GT K1600GTL

Demonstration of the combination of cbdane's amber running light conversion circuits (http://k1600forum.com/forum/bmw-k1600-general-discussions/3574-amber-running-light-conversion.html) and Schroedie.de lighted roundels. The very bright LED running light bars and the lighted roundels provide a nice effect which definitely enhances conspicuity of the bike on the road.

K1600GT/GTL amber running lights
K1600GT/GTL amber running lights

Quick demo of a simple little circuit that plugs between the front turn indicators and the bike to invert the on/off state. The resulting amber running lights should improve daytime visibility to oncoming traffic. The short video first shows the normal operation of the lights. This is followed by a demonstration of the running light conversion showing the "always on" LED indicator bars.

Stebel Magnum horn upgrade on BMW K1600GT
Stebel Magnum horn upgrade on BMW K1600GT

Very easy plug-n-play upgrade of the stock BMW "beeper" to the single low tone Stebel Magnum. The video somehow doesn't capture the increased volume of the lower Magnum tone but I think you can still appreciate the overall difference in road presence. Direct CanBus connection using original horn wiring; no isolation relay or fuse required.

Sorry for the dryer noise on the during the stock test; didn't notice it was on. Observant viewers will also notice that I accidentally left off the left plastic trim piece forward of the wind deflector. One screw, easy fix.

Second full forward flight for my new Trex 600. The wind was 18mph (gusting to 20) right into our face but the Trex handled it beautifully. I duct-taped my Canon SD500 under the skids to take the movie.
