I came across Aria on YouTube and became an instant fan. She sings like an angel. We chatted via twitter & decided to record a couple songs together including this Filipino classic written by Jose Mari Chan. Musically this is such a cleverly written song with two key changes. Pretty Russian Girl Sings BISAYA Song "Bisan Pa" w/David DiMuzio

ENGLISH TRANSLATION OF LYRICS BELOW: Many of my best friends in the Philippines and around the world are Bisaya. My best friend Carlo is Bisaya (from Iligan), my first & so far only Filipina girlfriend is Bisaya, and even the photographer who shot my 2nd album cover in the USA Rennan Quijano is Bisaya, haha.

This song was originally written and recorded by the Cebuano band "Wet Slipperz".

There are many great Bisaya songs ...I love Chinita, Bisan Pa, Usahay, Gugmang Gi-atay ...etc. And it's amazing to me that many "Tagalog" people can't name a single Bisaya song, and many Visayan people only know Matud Nila ;) haha ...there should really be more famous Bisaya songs ...I mean, why not? ...many talented musicians in the Philippines are Bisaya ...and that's their native language but they still write only Tagalog songs. If the market was bigger I'm sure they'd write Bisaya songs as well :) ...so it's one of my new goals to help promote Bisaya songs, as well as the great songs of other dialects of the Philippines as well. (Chavacano & Illongo songs are both coming soon). I've done covers of hundreds of Tagalog songs and I love Tagalog, but I'm also excited about branching out into this new musical and cultural territory. ...I welcome you along on my quest :)

Big thanks to my duet partner in this song Anna Rabtsun from Russia for being brave enough to try singing in a new language when I suggested we cover this song. I think she did a great job! :)

Kenny Loggins is one of my all-time favorite songwriters and vocalists. I really admire his ability to effortlessly blend, sing, and perform so many styles from Folk, Rock, Pop, to R&B ...etc.

The story of "Danny's Song" is that Kenny wrote it for his brother Danny as a gift when Danny had his first child. It was first recorded by his band "Loggins & Messina", and then became even more famous when Anne Murray had a hit with her own version.

Steven Silva, Roadfill, and I are big 90s boy band fans (I guess that was "our era" lol) ...especially Backstreet Boys. Every time Roadfill and I are hanging and a boy band song from the 90's comes on he immediately says "That's my jam!!". Somehow we all ended up at the studio at the same time and decided to shoot a cover together. Turned out everyone knew this song :) ...well, except for Muriel, lol. Harlem Shake vs. Butsekik!

I taught my brothers (from North Carolina, USA) Ben (Thor helmet) and Jimmy (Captain America mask) how to sing the Filipino song "Butsekik" by one my idols, comedian & songwriter Yoyoy Villame.

The story of this song goes that when Yoyoy was young the Filipino-Chinese people he knew would often try to speak to him in Chinese, but since he didn't speak Chinese sometimes as a joke he would just make up Chinese sounding words to speak back to them. He eventually decided he should compose a song made up entirely of the "chinese jibberish" language that he'd invented, and so Butchikik was born!

PS: Some of the Chinese community in Cebu demanded that it be removed from jukeboxes but, according to Villame, a plan to bring the case to court failed because the complainants could not find a single Chinese word in the song.

(LYRICS BELOW) - The first time I ever talked to Emmanuelle Vera on the phone I told her how much I liked her name. I'd never heard of a girl named Emmanuelle before, and to me the name "Emmanuelle" felt very poetic and spiritual. I later learned that it means "God is with us" ...so no wonder ;) ...A couple months later I met Emmanuelle in person for the first time when we recorded a cover of "Payphone" by Maroon 5 together. This song "Emmanuelle" is a compilation of everything I thought to myself and we talked about together while recording that cover. I wrote this song the very next day...

Kalabaw Riding In The Philippines! :)

I got to ride a carabao (national symbol of the Philippines) for the first time on my friends Pineapple farm. It was the first time I've ever ridden a "national symbol" of any country :) ...it was very friendly.

I started writing this song in Mexico after seeing a bad motor scooter wreck. I was thinking of how I'd ideally want to die someday. Then I started thinking as well of how no one I'm close to has ever died. Which for the most part (especially at that time) is true. The second verse discusses an old lady named Mrs. Seiniger, and that story of her is true as well. I lived with her for three years and then when I moved out she died the next week. Her daughter said it was because she didn't have anyone to cook for anymore.
This song is dedicated to all the people I love who have died (so currently that's Greg Schaefer & Mrs. Seiniger). Whenever I play it I'll think of you.

I had the idea of writing a Taglish song with this title, and being a fan of Mikey's voice I gave him a call and asked him to come over and write it with me.
