Hormone Balancing Berry Blast Smoothie
Hormone Balancing Berry Blast Smoothie

With summer wrapping up and coming to a close, I wanted to take this one last chance to enjoy some summer raspberries in season. We understand the benefits of eating foods in season right? Fruits and vegetables eaten in their season actually have more vitamins and minerals because their temperature and humidity are ideal for cellular growth and absorbing nutrients from the soil. More importantly, they taste better and are much more affordable in season!

What better way to enjoy them than with this Raspberry Superfood Smoothie. Here’s what’s in it:

Raspberries - Native to Europe, raspberries grow exceptionally well in a moderate climate. The red raspberry is the most common, but there are hybrids in orange, purple, yellow and white. Raspberries are rich in vitamin-C, which helps the body fight off free radicals, as well as boosts overall immunity, and counters inflammation. Raspberries also contain vitamin A and vitamin E which also aid in the disease prevention process.

Hemp Seed - These seeds contain more essential fatty acids than anything on the planet. Hemp Seeds are also much higher in protein than other seeds and nuts.

Maca - A peruvian root vegetable that can grow at almost any altitude, Maca has been known as the "Peruvian Ginseng", for it's numerous health benefits.

Limes - You know we support the idea of keeping the body in an alkaline state. Studies show that staying in an alkalized state boosts brain function, reduces risk of heart disease and even cancer.

Banana - We all know bananas are a source of potassium, which promotes heart health, including regulating blood pressure, cholesterol and even abnormal heart rhythms. Bananas also have shown to fight depression, because they contain tryptophan, which is a key ingredient in the production serotonin.

Cinnamon - This spice has been used for thousands of years throughout Asia, the Middle East and the Mediterranean. It's uses have ranged from treatment of digestion and insomnia to fighting cancer and Osteoporosis and even as insect repellent.

How do you safely detox while breast feeding
How do you safely detox while breast feeding

How do you safely detox while breast feeding

Detoxification has been used to get rid of unhealthy toxins and buildup in our cells and tissues. It simply means eliminating toxins from your bloodstream, liver, kidneys, and intestines by means of a particular diet or juicing protocol.

While this question has been asked by tons and tons of Juicing Mom fans, the answer will always remain the same, and it is “Don’t”. Never do any detox program while breastfeeding or nursing to your babies. Pregnancy and breastfeeding are both essential period to intake as many nutrients as possible for the healthy growth and development of the baby. You need so much of the calories, protein, carbohydrates, essential fats, minerals, vitamins, fluid, and other important nutrients from different food sources and wide arrays of diet.

Another thing is, in the removal of toxins through a cleanse or detox, the waste will re-circulate into the blood stream and possibly absorb into the baby’s blood stream via the placenta or through the breast milk, this is certainly not recommended and could be harmful to the baby.
When is the best time to do detox?

Detoxing should be done before and after pregnancy. Doing a cleanse or a reset a few months prior to conception is most essentially recommended as juicing can boost fertility and may also improve the health of the baby, and the parents.

Important nutrients vital for Mothers and their babies during pregnancy and breastfeeding:

Fulvic Acid – this is one of the needed nutrients that many mothers overlook. This important nutrient helps in the development of the baby helping it ward off toxins and other harmful substances that causes birth deficiencies.

Protein – we need an extra 10 grams per day. This is important for the growth of all tissue. Here is more on plant protein sources.

Calcium – if a pregnant or lactating woman does not intake enough calcium then it will be leached from her bones to ensure the baby’s needs are met for proper development.

Vitamin B12 – is essential for proper nerve and brain function for both mother and baby, a deficiency can caia, delayed growth, development and movement disorders.

Folate – is essential for the prevention of neural tubal defects and many studies stress the importance of this nutrient pre-conception and during pregnancy.

Iodine – Iodine deficiency becomes particularly critical in pregnancy due to neurological damage during fetal development as well as during lactation.

Iron – It is recommended to have approximately 30mg per day, double the normal recommendation.

Zinc – deficiency has been associated with birth defects and low birth weights. Sources include nuts, seeds, seafood, meats, egg yolk and whole grains.

Vitamin D – there are numerous studies associating this deficiency with pre-term labour, low birth weight, pre-eclampsia, poor growth, bone fragility and an increased incidence of auto-immune disease.

Vitamin K and C – it is estimated that many women are vitamin K deficient during pregnancy.

How Much Fat Is Too Much Fat?
How Much Fat Is Too Much Fat?

Eating too much fat can also make us more likely to put on weight, because foods that are high in fat are high in energy too. Not all fat is bad. We need some fat in our diet because it helps the body absorb certain nutrients. The brain is 65-70% of fat, and it is the natural food source of the brain. Fat is a source of energy as well as some vitamins (such as vitamins A and D), and provides essential fatty acids that the body can’t make itself.

How much fat is too much fat?

It actually depends on how your body metabolizes fat. Some people people are better in metabolizing carbohydrates, and some people struggle to process carbohydrates in their body. First, you need to know how many calories you should eat each day. Once you know this, you can determine how many grams of fat and saturated fat you can eat without exceeding your limits for fat. These limits are 25% to 35% of calories from fat and less than 7% of calories from saturated fat.

Here are Five of My Favorite Healthy Fats:

Coconut Oil
Coconut oil contains medium chain triglycerides (MCTs) that have various benefits including: antimicrobial benefits and aiding in digestion and nutrient delivery. MCTs produce ketones that can protect the cardiovascular system, kidneys, colon, pancreas, increase metabolism, anti-cancer properties, and helps with diabetes symptoms. You can also add it to your expresso shot, or us it as hair conditioner, facial cream, or body scrub.

Avocados are brimming with ‘good’ fats. You may have heard that you should avoid avocados due to their high fat content. This is not quite the case. While they are very high in fat (and calories) these are monounsaturated fats or ‘good fats’. They assist good heart health and help to lower blood pressure. Avocados are loaded not only with fat but also with fiber, and is equal to two bowls of oatmeal.

Cashew Nuts
Cashews are a great source of copper. It aids in the production of the ATP's in the mitochondria. Cashews are an excellent source of phosphorus, magnesium, manganese, and zinc. Although cashew nuts are known to provide a variety of cardio-protective benefits, many avoid them for fear of weight gain.

Almond provides excellent sources of protein, fiber, vitamin E, zinc, iron, selenium, magnesium, and calcium. Almonds have vitamin-like oils called essential fatty acids. Essential fatty acids are required for a healthy nervous system, anti-inflammatory effects, hormone balance and cell structure. It's loaded with Omega-3 fats, and ideal for to kick sugar craving

Brazil Nuts
Brazil Nuts are packed with energy, and give 3448% of the daily intake of Selenium. Selenium is a precursor and helps in the production that fat burning hormone, Testosterone. It also boost the immune system, and is ideal for people who wants to boost their immune system. Brazil nuts are rich in vitamin E and selenium – both nutrients which help to prevent and inhibit cataracts.

How Do I Maintain Pure, Positive, Perfect Blood?
How Do I Maintain Pure, Positive, Perfect Blood?

Once an exotic and unknown fruit, pomegranates have become popular in the past few years, being pumped into cereals, juices, bars, pills… you name it. Now, each of these selections may not actually be a healthy choice but there is no doubt about the health benefits that real pomegranates give the human body.

When most people think about these tiny red seeds they think about the high concentration of antioxidants. In a nutshell, antioxidants are important because they give electrons to free radicals (body pollution) so they don’t have to commit the crime of stealing from healthy cells in our bodies. Several recent studies have shown significant potential health benefits from drinking and eating fresh pomegranate fruit.

Here are some of the health benefits of pomegranates:

1. Anti-Inflammatory - Pomegranates fight off inflammation by alkalizing your body and get rid of inflammation. Many parts of our bodies get inflamed for different reasons. The pomegranates counters that by providing the body with a relaxation state from this chronic inflammation. Pomegranates decrease inflammation in the lining of blood vessels.

2. Lowers Blood Pressure - Drinking roughly 2 ounces of pomegranate juice per day can lower systolic blood pressure by as much as 5 percent.

3. Anti-Infective - According to a new Israeli study, pomegranates have an amazing ability to fight and prevent infection. Researchers discovered that patients with kidney disease who are undergoing dialysis can considerably reduce the risk of their infection simply by drinking a few cups of pomegranates juice once a week.

4. Lowers oxidative stress in your blood - Pomegranates is considered as one of the most anti-oxidant rich fruits in the world. Pomegranate juice had potent antiatherogenic effects in healthy humans and in atherosclerotic mice that may be attributable to its antioxidative properties.

5. Artery Protection - It prevents plaque from building up in the arteries and may reverse previous plaque buildup.

6. Fights Breast Cancer – Pomegranates can destroy breast cancer cells while leaving healthy cells alone. It may also prevent breast cancer cells from forming in the first place.

7. Lowers Cholesterol - Pomegranates lower LDL (bad cholesterol) and raises HDL (good cholesterol).

8. Slows Prostate Cancer - It slows the growth of prostate cancer in mice.

9. Lung Cancer Prevention - It may inhibit the development of lung cancer.

10. Dental Plaque Defense - Pomegranate juice may be a natural way to prevent dental plaque.

11. Bone Protection - Pomegranates may prevent cartilage deterioration and osteoarthritis.

12. Alzheimer's Prevention - It may prevent and slow Alzheimer's disease by decreasing accumulated amyloids (mutated proteins) within the body and brain.

Pomegranate juice is widely available commercially. However, if you are concerned about dilution, added sugars, or hidden ingredients, it is not too difficult to juice your own. Juice a large batch of fresh pomegranate juice and freeze leftovers into an ice club tray. Once the juice is frozen, transfer to a large re-sealable container for fresh keeping in the freezer. Cheers to your health!

Here's one smoothie recipe that you can try using the pomegranate:

Pomegranate Berry Smoothie

Prep time: 10 mins
Cook time: 5 mins
Total time: 15 mins

2 cups organic, unsweetened frozen berries
1 cup pomegranate juice
1 medium banana
½ nonfat cottage cheese
½ cup water

1) Prepare the banana, water, cheese and 2 cups of organic frozen berries.
2) For the pomegranate, here is a hack in getting the seeds out from the fruit. Cut it into half. Then put it into the water. Peel them out in the water. You should see how the seeds are falling out. Grab a strainer and you shall now have your pomegranate seeds.
3) Now that you have all of the ingredients, combine them and blend until smooth.

How Can I Remedy My Joint Pain?
How Can I Remedy My Joint Pain?

“Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.” - Hippocrates

There's so much we can do for our bodies. And this definitely extends to our own healing. While we bombard our system with things that make our machine dirty, we tend to suffer its consequences. But what we're completely missing in this puzzle is that, we are fully in control to start a healthier life, the change we've been looking for.

Now, a couple of people blame ageing for certain discomforts that they feel these days, such as joint pains. But it's not always about ageing. Sometimes, it's purely about our lifestyle, our diet preferences, lack of exercise, stress, and many other factors . The question then goes like, what can we do to have a healthier life?

In this blog, we will talk about JOINT PAIN and our own version of addressing this problem.

Here are the most viable natural solutions to Joint Pain!

Fresh celery is an excellent source of many vital vitamins like folic acid, riboflavin, niacin, and Vitamin C which are all essential for healthy metabolism. It also contains apigenin which is a flavanoid that may help stop tumor growth, and it also has anti-inflammatory effects.

Lemon boosts your immune system by balancing your body’s natural PH. When you ingest lemon juice the acid from the lemon juice acts as a antibacterial force inside your stomach. Believe it or not but lemon are alkalizing for the body. Many people think since lemons are sour they are actually acidic inside your body. Inside your body lemons don’t act acidic, instead they have alkalizing properties that keep your pH balance.

Wheatgrass helps regenerate your blood cells and boost your red blood cell count. The result? More energy and improved stamina. Wheatgrass is high in oxygen like all green plants that contain chlorophyll. The brain and all body tissues function at an optimal level in a highly-oxygenated environment. It is one of the best sources of living chlorophyll available. Chlorophyll is anti-bacterial and can be used inside and outside the body as a healer.

5 Health Hacks For Traveling... Don't Do What I Did. - Saturday Strategy
5 Health Hacks For Traveling... Don't Do What I Did. - Saturday Strategy

5 Health Hacks For Traveling... Don't Do What I Did. - Saturday Strategy

Hi Fitlifers!
Welcome to another Saturday Strategy!

Ok, so we've been listening to the community quite a bit lately. We've been hearing your concerns about finding enough time to juice, making it affordable, finding super foods for that optimum nourishment, and we've been creating some videos and articles to help tackle those obstacles.

Today, we're taking on the jet-setters. Maybe your job takes you around the country, or around the world. Maybe you took a trip to Latin America and fell in love with a half-Guatemalan while sharing a delicious Pitaya. Or maybe you, like me, are on an endless quest for Super-foods like Ashwaganda or Matcha.

Regardless, the airport health options are dismal at best, and I'm going to share some simple tricks and tactics I've developed over the last few years to help.

Now the struggle with traveling healthy is two-fold. Number one: Airports are full of quick junk food snacks, drinks and fast food, with almost no healthy options. Number two: Airports are full of germs.

Sure, you can pack your juicer in your luggage. You can also walk around with a gas mask or a space suit to avoid germs. If you don't want to scare people or get tackled and cavity searched by security, here are some quick tips to eat healthy, and boost your immune system while traveling:

#1. Remain-hydrated - Some studies suggest dehydration can reduce immunity and increase our risk of infection, even for a short period of time. Also, humidity in an airplane cabin sometimes drops to around 20%. The last thing we want is a weakened immune system while we sit in a dry cabin, with itchy eyes, and a dry throat, next to screaming, sick babies. Drink lots of water.

#2. Oil pulling - Supposedly, 50% of air inside of an airplane cabin is recycled. There are disagreements about airborne pathogens, but to be better safe than sorry, I like to do some oil pulling after flying. Oil pulling is basically swishing some coconut oil around in your mouth for about 15 minutes. This creates a vacuum effect in your mouth and sinuses, pulling the bacteria from hard to reach places. This has been known to reduce migraines and sinus infections.

#3. Rose hips Vitamin C - Particularly high in vitamin C, carotenoids, and beta-carotene, Rose Hips have been shown to treat and prevent colds, flus, and other common diseases. They are also used in treating stomach irritation and ulcers.

#4. Lacrosse Ball - Lacrosse Balls are very portable, affordable and can be used for massaging and "rolling out" your muscles in a cramped airplane. If your feet are sore from walking, you can remove your shoe, and roll the ball along the sole of your feet. You can also use this on your glutes by "sittin and rocking" on the ball. You will get some awkward stares, but I've found it to be a great ice-breaker for talking about health.

#5. Our Nutrient-dense, Delicious Superfood Powder is 2 Weeks Away - Last week we showed you how to make the most nutritious juice in the galaxy, and then we talked about a super easy, affordable, quick version with no cleanup that we’re working on. In two weeks, we will unveil this to the world. A juice with superfoods from all parts of the globe, high in vitamins and minerals that you can carry with you in a car, a plane, a jet, a bicycle, a space shuttle, even an intergalactic starship. The best part is, it's in a dry form, so airport security won't confiscate it. (like they did my beet juice vial, that I wear around my neck at all times, but that's another blog.)

Please feel free to share some of your healthy traveling tips below. If you're traveling this week, let me know how these tips work out for you. Stay tuned for our incredible product in two weeks that will make this super easy, nutritious and delicious. And if you haven't check out my system yet, you can download it here:

The Most Nutrient Dense Juice In The Galaxy - Saturday Strategy
The Most Nutrient Dense Juice In The Galaxy - Saturday Strategy

Hi Fitlifers!

Welcome to another Saturday Strategy!

Today’s juice…it’s the most nutrient dense juice I’ve ever had. It is also the most expensive juice I’ve ever made.

Here is this week’s Recipe Breakdown

Handful of Mint

Mint has been traditionally used for relieving abdominal cramps, bad breath and sore throats. Mint promotes digestion, helps with irritable bowel syndrome, and colonic muscle spasms. This is nature’s stomach soother. Wake up and feel great all day.

1/2 Teaspoon of Chlorella

Cultivated pyrenoidosa strain is the superior alternative to other harsh, chemically processed and indigestible Chlorella products on the market. It has no artificial colors, flavors, or chemicals.

1/2 Teaspoon Spirulina

spirulina Spirulina has twice the B-12 content and 2 to 6 times the iron content of liver. It has is the highest protein content of any natural food — about 70%, and is also the world’s most digestible natural source of high quality protein, far surpassing the protein bioavailability of beef.

1 Shot of Wheatgrass

Wheatgrass helps regenerate your blood cells and boost your red blood cell count. The result? More energy and improved stamina. Wheatgrass is high in oxygen like all green plants that contain chlorophyll.

1 Knuckle Turmeric

Turmeric is one of the most versatile spices. It is important for healthy joint function. This is important for people with rheumatoid arthritis. The anti-inflammatory properties help with aiding in healthy skeletal system as well.

1 Teaspoon Matcha Green Tea

Boost your metabolism without relying on harmful stimulants. Green tea is a proven weight loss supplement! And it’s completely natural! Matcha Tea has loads of antioxidant that are powerful and much needed. One cup of matcha tea provides more antioxidants and nutritional value than 10 cups of green tea.

1/2 Teaspoon Moringa

Loaded with nutrients, antioxidants, and vital health components—you’ll never have to reach for a multi-vitamin again! Moringa boosts your energy in a natural manner, and is a remarkable source of nutrition.

1 Lemon

Boosts your immune system by balancing your body’s natural PH. When you ingest lemon juice the acid from the lemon juice acts as a antibacterial force inside your stomach. Besides boosting your immune system, vitamin C helps destroy H. pylori, which is a type of bacteria in your stomach. H.
1 Beet

Get your blood flowing with beets! Beets, these ruby red root vegetables provide so much nutritional benefits! It contains Betacyanin which is a type of pigment that ranges from dark red to purple.

Coconut Water

Helps your body absorb all of the nutrients effectively. Coconut water is low calorie containing only 46 calories per cup. It’s cholesterol free, 99% fat free, and low in carbohydrates.

Like I said before, if you are new to these super foods or this recipe - start slowly.

Use a few of them and see which ones you like. It took me a long time to dial in which super foods and veggies I wanted to take on a daily basis.

The Juice With Drew system is loaded with recipes, meal plans and actionable things you can do to lose weight and FEEL GREAT!

Time it takes to shop for ingredients (drive, park, load, and stock the produce).
Putting the juicer together (dealing with missing, broken, or incompatible parts).
Prepping the produce (washing it thoroughly if it's not organic, chopping needed if the juicer has small feed hole).
Dealing with unforeseen juicer malfunctions.
Not having the right mix of ingredients or the right ingredients (mixture tastes awful or gives you bloating).
Cleaning the juicer after it’s all done (some juicers are easier to clean than others).

Wouldn't it be great if someone just took away all this hassle?

Don't Waste Your Time Juicing: Longevity Juice Recipe
Don't Waste Your Time Juicing: Longevity Juice Recipe

Hi Fitlifers!

How do you spend your time? Do you manage your time efficiently?

We are all given a set amount of time.

We spend 1/5 of our life working.
We spend 1/3 of our life sleeping.
We spend another 1/5 of our life surfing the internet or watching TV.

With the time we have left (~30%), we can’t even enjoy it if our body is not in optimal condition. Imagine how much more effective you will be in when you have the energy and vitality to be with your family and loved ones.

Here are the ingredients list you need for this longevity recipe!

Plums are loaded with Vitamins A, B, C, E, K and Niacin. plumA medium fresh plum contains 113 mg of potassium that helps manage high blood pressure and reduce your risk of stroke.

Red Cabbage

The best-known sources of vitamin C are citrus fruits, so it may be a surprise to learn that 1 cup of chopped red cabbage has 56 percent of the recommended daily intake of this important vitamin.

A longside of tomatoes, watermelon has moved up to the front of the line in recent research studies on high-lycopene foods.

1 cup of kiwi, you get over 270 percent of the recommended dietary allowance for vitamin C. Vitamin C acts as an antioxidant, scavenging free radicals in your body to help prevent disease.

The health benefits of fennel include relief from anemia, fennel indigestion, flatulence, constipation, colic, diarrhea, respiratory disorders, menstrual disorders, and its benefits regarding eye care.

The Lime is the sweeter cousin of the lemon. They contain calcium and folate, two nutrients that are important for post-menopausal women and women of child-bearing age.

Turmeric is one of the most versatile spices. It has almost a sweet and tangy taste. Turmeric contains antioxidants that fight and neutralize cancer causing free radicals. Turmeric can increase detoxification enzymes which help eliminate toxins.

The flavonoids in parsley—especially luteolin—have been shown to function as antioxidants that combine with highly reactive oxygen-containing molecules (called oxygen radicals) and help prevent oxygen-based damage to cells.

Drinking cucumber juice can provide you with a good cucumber-slices quantity of vitamin A.

I want to share with an amazing longevity recipe this week with you.

Longevity Juice Recipe

1/2 Red Cabbage

Fitlifers, if you want to grab the chance of winning the juicer next week like Rich, make sure you leave a comment on the blog to register. We want to hear from you! I know a lot of this week may have been new information to you, and that’s okay. Each week, I strive to give you content that is new and will further help you in your transformation journey. It’s time to invest in yourself! I want you to give The Juice with Drew System a try.

The detoxification process can also take in the form of a juice fast. Here at FitLife.TV, we recommend people to try the Alpha Reset (AR). The Alpha Reset is a 5 Day Juice Fast. It is part of the Juice with Drew System. This is the first step in your detoxification process. If you are just starting out with juicing, do not jump right into a juice fast right away. Just try 1 juice per day along with the rest of your nutrition and see how your body responds. If your body responds well to juicing, then ramp up the number of juices per day. These healthy, nutrient-dense juices can replace that coffee you reach for in the morning or that soda in the afternoon. Here are some of our followers that have tried the Alpha Reset!

7 Habits of Highly Authentic People
7 Habits of Highly Authentic People

Hello Fitlifers!

Welcome to another Mindset Monda0y.

I'm up and out early in San Diego this morning and as I look around I see a lot of lost people.

They have listened to others and haven't followed their own bliss. Many people make the mistake of sacrificing their time for something that they don't really believe in and then wonder why they are not 100% happy!

Are they really authentic?

Are you 100% authentic?

Do you have everything in your life that you've always wanted or dreamed of?

If the answer to this is NO, I encourage you to watch this week's Mindset Monday.

I'll quickly break down 7 ways to be more authentic.

1. Highly Authentic People Listen for Deeper Meaning

It's critically important we listen for deeper meaning. While paying attention to what is being said from the other person, we need to also hear the emotional purpose behind the words. We need to stay away from superficial conversations and gossip. We only plan and pursue conversations that are full of meaning and substance.

2. Highly Authentic People can be Alone, and Not Need Anybody

Being alone gives you your brain the opportunity to unwind and rest. By spending time with yourself and gaining a better understanding of who you are, you are more likely to make better choices because ideas and insights will come to you

3. Highly Authentic People Value Experiences Over Material Possessions

We need to place priority on family, friends, and experiences while traveling over material things.

4. Highly Authentic People Don't Complain, and Take Full Responsibility for Themselves

We need to quit the habit of complaining, and disconnect this undesirable behavior from your identity. Taking full responsibility gives you the "I can do it", and "I am capable" mindset!

5. Highly Authentic People Get Rid of Energy Vampires

Do not tolerate any energy vampires in your life. Energy vampires only have power if you give them power and permission into your life.

6. Highly Authentic People have Unique Daily Rituals

Building a habitual morning routine can help you start your day for success!

7. Highly Authentic People Listen to Themselves and Discover What They Love

When you start to think kindly and positively about yourself, you continue to discover what lights you up and makes you feel good. This is the path to your bliss.

The world will always reflect back to you what you are.

Remember, we're in this together...

6 Warning Signs of Protein Deficiency
6 Warning Signs of Protein Deficiency

Dr. Ching Chen's Website (
Blog (
Juice with Drew (

"It's not what you eat! It's about what you absorb!"

Hello Fitlifers!

Where do we get protein? And how much protein do we need every day?

Protein is an important aspect of our body that we need to maintain. In fact, hair and nails are mostly made of protein. Your body uses it to build and repair tissue.

Here's a very easy process in order to know the amount of protein that you need every single day!

• Take your weight in pounds.
• Divide it by two to get the kilogram equivalent - this is the amount of protein you need per day.
• Divide that number into your three meals and two snacks!

For example, if you weigh 100 pounds, you would need about 50 kilograms of protein per day. If you weight 170 lbs, you would need to have about 85 kg of protein per day. Divide this amount of protein across your meals.

If your diet is lacking in protein, your body tend to utilize the protein stored in your body tissues. It's so important to know whether you are protein deficient.

6 Warning Signs of Protein Deficiency:

1. Puffy Cheeks

Puffy cheeks actually highlight a protein-carbohydrate imbalance. Puffy cheeks are actually a result of swollen salivary glands (parotid glands).

2. Swollen Eyes

Swollen eyes can be annoying because it can be itchy, can lead to dark circles and even eye floaters.

3. Swollen Hands

Aside from the face, swelling can also extend to other areas in the body. The explanation to this is quite simple.

In the first instance, you might think that muscle performance is the only thing affected when you are protein-deficient. But this is not the case. It extends to the appearance and sizes of the muscles as well. Why?

If your body cannot find the protein that it needs from your diet, it sources out the protein from other areas in the body. And the proteins are founds in muscular linings, not in fats. That is why your hands can get swollen because the body utilizes the protein found in the tissues in the area.

As a result is edema, which is the collection of fluid under the skin. Protein has a crucial role in maintaining the water balance in the body, and without it, the body may store water improperly.

4. Thinning Hair

While genetics can be an important factor to consider in the thinning of hair, protein deficiency can also be a reason for this. They say that hair and nails are important points to note whether you are protein-deficient. When your hair start to split or fall, it's time to recheck whether you're getting enough protein from your diet.

5. Brain Fog/Lethargic

Protein deficiency can also affect our overall state. This can also be an offshoot result of low energy, inability to handle stress well and moodiness, which are signs of lack of protein. Protein is there to stabilize the sugar levels that we have in our body. I

6. Dry/Flaky Skin

Lack of protein causes the skin to dry and break out in rashes. Consequently, the skin becomes more prone to sunburns.

You can use the health and fitness app, MyFitnessPal. When you log into it, you can take a look at the protein intake that you have, carbohydrates, fat content, including the nutritional content.

A protein-rich diet can do a lot to solve a problem on protein deficiency. If you are protein deficient, you need to aim for a 40-30-30 body component division - 40% of protein, 30% carbohydrate and 30% fat. Fitlifer, there are a lot of healthy protein sources out there in the market. Some of our favorites our beans, nuts, grains, quinoa, and even vegetables like spinach and broccoli.

How to Build Your Hydrochloric Acid
How to Build Your Hydrochloric Acid

Get the Candida Cleanse eProgram

Hello Fitlifers!

Welcome to another exciting episode of Saturday Strategy!

Gastric acid is one of the main secretions of the stomach. It consists mainly of hydrochloric acid and acidifies the stomach content to a pH of 1 to 2. Also, it acts as a barrier against microorganisms to prevent infections and is important for the digestion of food.

Hydrochloric acid activates pepsinogen into the enzyme pepsin, which then helps digestion by breaking the bonds linking amino acids, a process known as proteolysis. In addition, many microorganisms have their growth inhibited by such an acidic environment, which is helpful in preventing infection.

Once we reach the age of 50, the stomach produces less and less hydrochloric acid every year. In such conditions, there is greater risk of infections of the digestive tract (such as infection with Vibrio or Helicobacterbacteria).

Today, we'll be making a concoction that we can include in our daily meals to help build our stomach acid.

- 1 Lemon
- 3 Knuckles of Ginger (peeled)
- 1/2 Teaspoon of Regular Sea Salt

- Pickle the Ginger
- Add the Juice of a Full Lemon
- Add the Sea Salt and Mix

Eat this before your meals!

LemonLemon helps to prevent diabetes, constipation, high blood pressure, fever, indigestion and many other problems, as well as improving the skin, hair, and teeth. Studies conducted at the American Urological Association highlight the fact that lemonade or lemon juice can eliminate the occurrence of kidney stones by forming urinary citrate, which prevents the formation of crystals.

Ginger is a must-have if you struggle with indigestion, and it does more than simply relieve pain. Ginger helps to stimulate the emptying of your stomach gingerwithout any negative effects,13 and it’s an antispasmodic agent, which may explain its beneficial effects on your intestinal tract. Additionally, ginger inhibits H. pylori, which may help prevent ulcers, while also protecting gastric mucosa.

Sea Salt

Sea salt naturally helps you to build up a strong immune system so that you can fight off the cold virus, the fever and flu, allergies and other autoimmune disorders. It also alkalizes the body, as it can help you to prevent and reverse high levels of acids in the body, which in turn eliminates the risks for serious and life-threatening diseases.

Have you been dealing with intense sugar cravings, brain fog, fatigue, digestion issues, and anxiety or depression? It could be candida overgrowth.

Christa Orecchio has spent years and years researching the best way to get rid of candida so you can live the vibrant life that you deserve! There will be 5 hours worth of recordings in total.

The recordings/presentations cover all parts of digestion including candida, leaky gut syndrome, parasites, mold and fungus. This amazing eCourse also address healing the entire person by repairing the adrenal glands, healing the the thyroid (hormonal balance), boosting liver and kidney function, and balancing brain chemistry. This cleanse also covers the emotional roots of candida and other health-related issues.

Why Your Body's pH is The Secret to Your Vitality?
Why Your Body's pH is The Secret to Your Vitality?

Hello Fitlifers!

Balancing your pH is a simple way to improve the health of your entire body. It will assist in cancer prevention, weight loss, reduction of inflammation, improved heart and bone health, and better energy levels. We are looking to see how acidic or alkaline your body chemistry is. The blood pH never changes, which is why we are looking at urine and saliva pH to see how hard your body may or may not be working to maintain the blood pH.

pHydrionpH Balance

pH stands for power of hydrogen, which is a measurement of the hydrogen ion concentration in the body. The total pH scale ranges from 1 to 14, with 7.25 - 7.45 pH range considered to be neutral. A pH less than 7 is said to be acidic and solutions with a pH greater than 7 are basic or alkaline.

Acidosis or high acidity can deplete bones because the body has to steal alkalizing minerals (especially calcium) from bones to keep the blood from dropping into the acid range. Thus acid/alkaline balance may be relevant to diseases such as osteoarthritis and osteoporosis. It has an impact on everything from children's growth rates (excess acidity slows the growth process) to decreased bone and muscle mass and the formation of kidney stones in adults. Other research indicates that an acid imbalance may be linked to heart disease and diabetes.

Alkalosis is when too much bicarbonate is in your blood, causing excessively low acidity. Symptoms of metabolic or respiratory alkalosis include irritability, muscular twitching or cramps. Treatment involves replacing fluids to achieve acid balance or slowing your breathing in the event of respiratory alkalosis.

Step 1: Get some pH strips.
Step 2: As soon as you wake up put a trip in your mouth for 3 seconds in the morning
Step 3: Match your pH in the corresponding range

pH can also be tested with your urine. This is done by peeing on a strip twice in the morning. The first test should be done at 5 AM, pee on the strip, and go back to sleep. The second morning urine is the second time, and is more accurate. Do this for 6 consecutive days to give you the ideal of your body's pH, and if you need to shift your diet.

Hydrion pH Testing Strips are available in most drugstores, and some health. This is color-coded with the general range that is easy to use, and match on. It is very simple to do, and takes less than a minute of your time. You can use this as a guide to balance your body's pH.

The management of the pH factor is important to our body's primary regulatory systems especially in breathing, circulation and body waste eliminations. Food can help you achieve pH balance. Highly acidic foods include prunes, blackberries, chocolate, walnuts, beef and cheese. Foods with high alkalinity include watermelon, asparagus, spinach and olive oil. Eat a variety of fruits, vegetables and grains to counter your acidic and high alkaline pH. Always hydrate with water daily, limit your alcohol use and follow medication instructions on the label to prevent high acid pH.

DIY 48 Second Test for Candida
DIY 48 Second Test for Candida

Hey Fitlifers!

You may have come across the topic of candida in various health and wellness forums. Candida is a form of fungus, and a very small amount of it lives in our bodies. In very small amounts, Candida is very helpful, as it aids in digestion and nutrient absorption. However, an overgrowth of this fungus / yeast is called Candida albicans. It is a serious health condition as Candida can proliferate throughout your digestive system. This compromises your immune and digestive system (causing liver and bowel dysfunction). An overgrowth of candida can also lead to skin rashes. Candida is caused by an opportunistic microflora which over proliferates in the body when the conditions are right, such as an acidic, damp and sugary environment.

Did you know that a Candida overgrowth can also be at the root of symptoms like fatigue, brain fog, food cravings, allergies, anxiety, depression and skin rashes in men and women of all ages, even babies?

The healthy bacteria in your gut typically keeps your candida levels in check. But several food products can cause the candida population to get out of hand. Are you consuming these?

1. Beer
2. Sugar
3. Kombucha

Always remember that symptoms depend on which part of the body is infected. But here are the most common manifestation of Candida Infection:
Skin and nail fungal infections
Feeling tired and worn down or suffering from chronic fatigue or fibromyalgia
Digestive issues such as bloating, constipation, or diarrhea
Autoimmune disease
Difficulty concentrating, poor memory, lack of focus, ADD, ADHD and brain fog
Skin issues such as eczema, psoriasis, hives, and rashes
Irritability, mood swings, anxiety, or depression
Vaginal infections , urinary tract infections, rectal itching or vaginal itching
Severe seasonal allergies or itchy ears
Strong sugar and refined carbohydrate cravings

So how can we test for Candida overgrowth? Some of the most noted are thru Blood test, Stool testing and Urine Organix Dysbiosis Test. But our friend Crista Orekio will teach us how to detect if we have a Candida Infection. It's very simple, affordable and convenient. It is done by:

1. Fill up a glass of water (half way)
2.Spit on it (Dime size)
3. Watch it 2 or 3 times (for over 45 minutes)

Does the spit sink to the bottom or grow legs into the glass of water? If it does, that means that you have candida overgrowth.

There are many ways to be Candida-free but effectively treating candida involves stopping the yeast overgrowth, restoring the friendly bacteria that usually keeps them in check, and healing your gut so that candida growth can be controlled. Getting rid of the candida overgrowth primarily requires a change in diet to a low carbohydrate diet. Sugar is what feeds yeast, so eliminating sugar in all of its simple forms like candy, desserts, alcohol and flours would be ideal.

Also, eliminating all fermented foods and reducing to only one cup a day of the more complex carbohydrates such as grains, beans, fruit, bread, pasta, and potatoes will prevent the Candida from increasing in number. Using diet alone could take some time before the Candida is back under control. But it will free you from the symptoms that you are currently experiencing. Imagine waking up in the morning feeling energized, focused and revitalized!

World's Greatest Detoxifying Bath Recipe
World's Greatest Detoxifying Bath Recipe

Hi Fitlifers!

The detoxification process takes many forms. We can drink juices, eat nutritious food and even use organic products to maximize the detox process. But remember, our skin is our body's largest organ. Sweat, oil and toxins are excreted through our skin everyday. So why not cleanse our largest organ?

Public opinion about bathing began to shift in the middle and late 18th century, when writers argued that frequent bathing might lead to better health. Two English works on the medical uses of water were published in the 18th century that inaugurated the new fashion for therapeutic bathing. One of these was by Sir John Floyer, a physician of Lichfield, who, struck by the remedial use of certain springs by the neighboring peasantry, investigated the history of cold bathing and published a book on the subject in 1702.

So what do we need for World's Greatest Detoxifying Bath Recipe?

Lavender Oil

Lavender essential oil is known as an excellent remedy for various types of pains including those caused by sore and tense muscles, muscular aches, rheumatism, sprains, backache and lumbago. A regular massage with lavender oil can also provide relief from pain in the joints. A study done onpostoperative pain relief showed that combining lavender essential oil vapor into the oxygen significantly reduced the amount of pain experienced, versus those patients only revived with oxygen after a major surgery.

Chamomile Oil

Being a stomachic, Chamomile oil tone up the stomach and ensure its proper function. They also promote the secretion of digestive juices into the stomach and facilitate digestion. Being Hepatic, which means being good for the liver, they ensure good health of the liver and the proper flow of bile from it. They are also considered Cholagogues, meaning that they increase the secretion of Hydrochloric Acid, bile and enzymes in the stomach, thereby promoting digestion.

Epsom Salt

The sulfates in Epsom salt help flush toxins and heavy metals from the cells, easing muscle pain and helping the body to eliminate harmful substances. Your skin is a highly porous membrane and adding the right minerals to your bathwater triggers a process called reverse osmosis, which actually pulls salt out of your body, and harmful toxins along with it.

Baking soda

Another benefit of baking soda is its ability to promote a more alkaline PH balance in the body. Alkalinity is the reverse of acidity. Acidity is necessary for effective digestion of food, but an overall alkaline PH in your body is considered healthier, because many diseases thrive in an acidic environment. Diseases of a degenerative nature, like osteoporosis, arthritis, and cancer, have been associated with a chronically high acidity level in the body.

Ginger may also help reduce chronic pain, by lowering your levels of hormones that induce inflammation. A study published in 2005, suggests that ginger could lessen pain more effectively than non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.

This is not new. I know that a lot of you are somehow stuck at a point in your life when you feel like you're losing the direction once again.

There are those who lose motivation after achieving their goals. But this shouldn't be the case. You worked hard to achieve that point of success. You need to work extra hard to maintain that fitness in you and the overall health that you have. You need to find extra motivation and impose more discipline towards yourself.

Now, I'm going to share to you 5 effective ways to reset your health goals.

1) Recommit to a Goal

Set a new goal every 15-30 days. Take a date stamp, mark your calendar, list it in your reminders, etc. -- everything that you can do to make sure that you can achieve your goals within those time frames. While others may look at this in a very simplified context, recommitting to a goal is a process.

When we achieve our goal, our bodies have this subconscious command to look for a new goal. We have to tap on that command to establish a clear path to where we are heading. And when we know within ourselves that we are trudging the right direction, we need to do everything to seize the best out of life and achieve our goals.

2) Do a Cleanse Again

Never settle for less. You should look forward by asking, "When will I do my next cleanse?", along with many other questions that you can ask for yourself. You know what, Fitlifer, many people who succeeded in their pursuit of health tried the Alpha Reset, and continued doing many juice cleanses after. It gave them that sense of empowerment that because they're able to conquer it 0nce, they can conquer it over and over again until it becomes a part of their routine.

3) Reassess the Mess

Get rid of all your old junk.

There's no point of accumulating all the clutters in your life that continue to pre-occupy your thoughts. It's pretty the same achieving focus in your working table. If things are messy and occupied, you can't focus with your work. And so, you have to clean it out.

So break free from that preoccupation Fitlifer and re-assess the mess. If you have things in your house that you haven't been using, sell them to the warehouse. If you have accessories and clothes that are not that useful to you, open up a garage sale. If you're looking for more satisfying options, why don't you donate them to the charity? By doing so, you're not just helping your overall state of well-being, you're helping other people's lives.

4) Reset With Rest

Stop working and thinking too much. Take a rest. Don't even overthink of things at all. You know what they say, 'overthinking is an ingredient 0f sadness'.

Weekend is key to your health freedom. Make use of this opportunity to never bother yourself about work. Do the things that you love doing, or things you want to do. You can go skydiving, mountain trekking, camping, karate , and a number of other stuff that you enjoy. You will realize then what you're missing in life. Define rest in your own means. Break free!

5) Tap Into The Troop

Create this awesome synergy with somebody. Join a challenge with a group. Make it a collaborative objective that you want to conquer. You might even consider taking an inspiration from your friend, comrade or colleague. It will be a lot easier to conquer your health goals when you know you have someone by your side!

Health is what matters the most. By resetting your health goals, you're giving yourself a chance to re-commit to a happier life that is just worth living.

Remember, we're in this together...

The Truth About Flouride and Homemade Toothpaste Recipe
The Truth About Flouride and Homemade Toothpaste Recipe

Essential Oils -

Hello Fitlifers!

For this Saturday Strategy, I'm going to show you how to make your very own toothpaste. In this very episode, I'll also bring you to another secret that people all over the globe are using - oil pulling.

We're all aware that the mouth is the entry point of many dangers towards our body. Apparently, fluoride is one of them and it can do so much with our bodies. It can damage fertility, destroy bones and cause early puberty in children, which is why all European countries banned water fluoridation. And many other countries are joining the bandwagon.

Yet, it seems that fluoride does not leave us. It can be found in almost all of the food and drinks that we take. This is not to mention that majority of American cities have fluoridated water. And what we have to do is to mitigate the risk by minimizing fluoride sources in our lifestyle.

Toothpaste is one of the sources of fluoride in human body. Now what we will do is address this concern by coming up with our own homemade toothpaste. For this goal, we will be needing the following ingredients: coconut oil, baking soda and essential oil.

Coconut oil

Classified as a superfood, coconut oil has been at the forefront of medicinal studies for its acclaimed healing properties.

Coconut oil has a unique combination of fatty acids that has a lot of medicinal properties. One of which is boosting brain function which is ultimately helpful for people with Alzheimer's disease. These same fatty acids are converted into ketones, which can reduce the occurrence of seizures. Coconut oil can increase your energy expenditure, which helps you burn more fat, especially the fats that can be found in your abdominal activity.

The lauric acid in coconut oil can help you fight against infections because it can kill bacteria, viruses and fungi. Coconut oil can also improve blood cholesterol levels and fight off heart diseases.

These are some of the reasons why people who eat a lot of coconut, like the Kitavans, are some of the healthiest people on Earth.

Baking Soda

Baking soda's mild antiseptic properties kill some kinds of parasites, fungi, and mold. Because of this, applying baking soda to your toothbrush disinfects the brush and cleans your teeth.

Baking soda can promote a more alkaline PH balance in the body, which reverses acidity. The low cost of baking soda combined with its potential health benefits make a regimen of baking soda water drinking a worthwhile dietary change.

On top of all these benefits, simple household baking soda is incredibly versatile in helping to prevent kidney stones, gout, and urinary tract infections. Baking soda has also been linked with improved performance in serious athletes.

Baking soda is high in sodium. It's not safe in high doses and shouldn't be used for long periods of time. Individuals who have edema, liver disease, kidney disease, or high blood pressure shouldn't use baking soda. Baking soda should be considered unsafe for nursing mothers or pregnant women unless advised by their doctors.

Essential Oil

Essential oils are often used for natural beauty regimen. They are deemed as natural and chemical-free alternatives to everything from traditional cosmetics to potentially toxic fragrances. And across the times, they have been credited for treating problems including digestion issues and acne, increasing concentration, killing germs and much more.

Juice Cleanse Recipe to Detoxify Your Liver
Juice Cleanse Recipe to Detoxify Your Liver

Hi Fitlifer,

Welcome to another exciting episode of Saturday Strategy. Before I started drinking this recipe, I used to wake up in the morning and feel fatigued lethargic and drained, as if I had no sleep at all. If you've ever felt like this, you know it's not a great place to be. It's hard to lose weight when you wake up like this too. Often when we are more tired we eat more mindless/empty calories. Today I am going to give you an amazing recipe that's not only going to give you great energy, but it will detoxify your liver as well!

Beet juice and beets have soluble fiber. This is my favorite type of fiber because soluble fiber delays the emptying of your stomach which could help control weight gain. Soluble fiber also is capable of lowering LDL (bad) cholesterol.

Swish Chard
Swiss chard, like spinach, is the store-house of many phytonutrients that have health promotional and disease prevention properties. It is an excellent source of vitamins K, A, and C, as well as a good source of magnesium, potassium, iron, and dietary fiber.

Kale is rich in beta-carotene which is an antioxidant which helps to build the body's immune system. An antioxidant helps neutralize free radicals and helps prevent molecules from oxidizing.

Cucumbers abundant amount of water that cucumbers contain, they also contain a very important mineral called silica. Without silica our connective tissue would not properly function. It's also important for joint function and even relieves joint pain due to its anti-inflammatory effects.

Key Ingredients For A Juice Cleanse Recipe To Detox Your Kidneys
Key Ingredients For A Juice Cleanse Recipe To Detox Your Kidneys

Hey Fitlifer,

It's that wonderful time of the week. It's time for another exciting episode of Saturday Strategy!

Today I want to give you some foods and strategies to detoxify an organ that is vitally important for you and your body. This organ cleans your blood, regulates all of the water systems in your body, and works with all the other organs, specifically your liver, to optimize your body's various functions.

Any idea what it is yet? Okay, here's another hint: you have two of them...

Yup, you guess it! It's your Kidneys!!!

Let me start off with giving you a few signs that your kidneys need to be detoxed...

- Eczema
- Fatigue
- Unexplained Weight Gain
- Bloating
- Mood Swings

This is all possible because of a hormone imbalance in your body from your Kidneys being a little "dirty". But don't worry, I'm going to help you clean these up this week.

A natural diuretic and detoxifier, radishes will help your body pull toxins out of your bloodstream and kidneys. Since the kidneys act as a natural filter and can become a collection point for any toxins we consume, it's important to help the body clean them out.

Alongside of tomatoes, watermelon has moved up to the front of the line in recent research studies on high-lycopene foods. Lycopene is a carotenoid phytonutrient that's especially important for our cardiovascular health, and an increasing number of scientists now believe that lycopene is important for bone health as well. Among whole, fresh fruits that are commonly eaten in the U.S., watermelon now accounts for more U.S. intake of lycopene (by weight of fruit eaten) than any other fruit.

To avoid a morning hangover or headache; eat a few cucumber slices before going to bed. Cucumbers contain enough sugar, B vitamins and electrolytes to replenish many essential nutrients, reducing the intensity of both hangover and headache.

According to a 10-year study from the Netherlands about carrot intake and risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD)—and those results are fascinating. Intake of fruits and vegetables in the study was categorized by color and focused on four color categories: green, orange/yellow, red/purple, and white. Out of these four categories, orange/yellow (and in particular, foods with deeper shades of orange and yellow) emerged as most protective against CVD. And even more striking, carrots were determined to be the most prominent member of this dark orange/yellow food category. Participants who ate 50- or 75-grams more had an even more greatly reduced risk of CVD!

Studies indicate that parsley—especially its essential oil—may have a role in inhibiting cancerous tumors. In fact, scientists have billed it a 'chemoprotective' food.

Red cabbage
The best-known sources of vitamin C are citrus fruits, so it may be a surprise to learn that 1 cup of chopped red cabbage has 56 percent of the recommended daily intake of this important vitamin. As an antioxidant, vitamin C fights inflammation and protects cells from damage that leads to chronic health conditions, such as heart disease

The potential health benefits of celery (and its seeds) include: lowering blood pressure, reducing the risk of cancer, and preventing age-related degeneration of vision.

The Juice Recipe That's Making You Fat
The Juice Recipe That's Making You Fat

Hey Fitlifer,

Just the other day I was speaking with a client of mine and I came to a conclusion that I wanted to share with you.

First, let's focus on my client's problem. He calls me up and says "Drew, I've been doing everything with your program, but I seem to actually be gaining fat! What am I doing wrong?!?"

The very first thing I asked him was "Well, what are your typical juice recipes?" He goes on to tell me that he juices apples, mangoes, pineapples, carrots, beets, strawberries, etc. Can you tell what's wrong with these?

Fruit is tasty and everything, but juicing primarily fruit is one of the worst juicing mistakes you can make. Why is it such a bad thing? Let me shed a bit of light on it for ya.

I want to start by sharing some stats with you...

Did you know that 1 teaspoon of sugar weakens your immune system for 4 hours?? Now, everybody knows that a weakened immune system makes it much harder for your body to fight off sickness and infection, but let's talk about something you didn't know.

When your immune system is weakened, your fat-burning potential essentially drops to zero! Let's take a look at that apple as an example.

One apple has approximately 16 grams of sugar. 4 grams of sugar equals 1 teaspoon. This means that your standard apple has 4 teaspoons of sugar! Uh oh...that means your immune system is in a weakened state for quite a while. Now, add in the fact that most of these fruit juice recipes don't just have 1 apple. They have 2 apples, some carrots, half a pineapple, 1 get the picture. That is a TON OF SUGAR IN ONE JUICE!

No wonder why people gain weight when they drink these juices. As I've told many of my clients that use The Juice with Drew System (, you're going to want to follow the 90/10 rule: 90% veggies and 10% fruits. For fruits I recommend trying to only juice things like lemons and limes; they don't have a lot of sugar and help put your body in an alkaline state. This state improves digestion and actually helps you burn fat.

As you train your tastebuds, and it usually takes about 2 weeks, you will find you don't actually need sugary ingredients to feel satisfied. This only works if you commit to juicing mostly vegetables so that is exactly what I encourage all my clients to do.

I invest in you every week with this type of content and education, but now it's time to invest in yourself. The Juice with Drew System will inspire and motivate you to become the best version of you AND give you the exact systems you need to do it!

Cranberries contain a powerful cocktail of protective phytonutrients such as flavonoids and phenolic acids. These plant chemicals that contain protective, disease-preventing compounds that act as antioxidants in the body. Cranberries may also lower the risk of cardiovascular disease by lowering "bad" LDL cholesterol, inhibiting LDL oxidation, lowering blood pressure and inhibiting the formation of blood clots.

Almonds are not a nut, but a seed with serious nutritional value. Almonds are high in fat (the good kind). According to Vegetarian Times, 60 percent of the fatty acids in almonds are mono-unsaturated, a healthful fat that can reduce levels of LDL cholesterol. Almonds are also a good source of vitamin E and antioxidants. Almond skins are high in fiber, which act as a probiotic and improve digestive health and strengthen your immune system.

Coconut Flakes
Coconut is a good source of iron. Iron is crucial for the formation of hemoglobin, which is the protein in red blood cells that is responsible for getting oxygen to each part of your body. Without enough iron, your cells don't get sufficient oxygen, which can lead to weakness and fatigue.

Sea Salt
Sea salt naturally helps you to build up a strong immune system so that you can fight off the cold virus, the fever and flu, allergies and other autoimmune disorders. Sea salt is alkalizing to the body, as it has not been exposed to high heat and stripped of its minerals, nor does it have any harmful man-made ingredients added to it.

Coconut Oil
There is a misconception spread among many people that coconut oil is not good for heart health. This is because it contains a large quantity of saturated fats. In reality, coconut oil is beneficial for the heart. It contains about 50% lauric acid, which helps in actively preventing various heart problems like high cholesterol levels and high blood pressure.

SunFood Red Maca
Maca ( helps your overall health in a number of ways. It supplies iron and helps restore red blood cells, which aids anemia and cardiovascular diseases. Maca keeps your bones and teeth healthy and allows you to heal from wounds more quickly. This is the amazing superfood I highly recommend picking up!

New Research: Fasting Boosts Immune System!
New Research: Fasting Boosts Immune System!

Researchers at the University of Southern California (USC) found that fasting, specifically between 2 and 4 days, can actually help not only boost, but regenerate your immune system! The scientists of this study have suggested that fasting actually triggers your body's stem cells to create more white blood cells, strengthening your immune system.

The researchers say fasting "flips a regenerative switch" that prompts stem cells to create white blood cells, essentially restoring the immune system.

Now, I absolutely love seeing studies like this make it into the media. I started FitlifeTV on the principles of Juice Fasting because I have always believed that feeding your body with micro-nutrients while in a fasted state helps you recover and heal yourself from the inside.

But there's a deeper message to the video today...

When I first came out to San Diego and started FitlifeTV, a lot of people tried to bring me down. "You don't know what you're talking about Drew." "Juice fasting doesn't work." "Smoothies are better because of the fiber!"

You know something fitlifer? There's always going to be "nay-sayers" and people that will stand in the way of your journey and your own personal movement.

But if you believe in yourself and what you are doing, don't let anyone tell you, you can't!

3 Fundamental Rules to Being More Present - Mindset Monday
3 Fundamental Rules to Being More Present - Mindset Monday

Hey Fitlifer,

Too often in life we worry about everything except the here and the now. We worry about what the future may hold. We worry about past mistakes that might affect us. We worry about things that are, quite frankly, out of our control. That's why this week we are going to focus on being more present...

When we are present with ourselves, we live as authentic beings, we are able to harmoniously interact with the universe in that exact moment and in this moment...everything becomes clear and amazing things happen.

So how to we become more present?

Follow these 3 simple rules:

You have to see the world through your "wow goggles". As you go through your day, try to ignore all the other thoughts that pop into your head. Just look around and accept how amazing everything is around you in that exact moment.
Utilize your 5 senses and get outside of your thoughts. We often forget everything about a situation and fail to live in the moment because we are wrapped up in our own thoughts. Remind yourself to experience every situation with all 5 senses.
You have to forget your story. Forgive. There are things holding you back from becoming your all. Let go of your story. When you can tap into your own present awareness, you start to see the world differently (in a pretty magical way).
Being present is so much more than living in the moment. It's being aware of everything around you and seeing the world in a new light. I promise you that if you can practice these 3 things every single day, you will start to go through life, accept what is around you and just think...WOW!

Remember, we're in this together

3 Tips to Increase Brain Function Using Blue Green Algae and Spirulina
3 Tips to Increase Brain Function Using Blue Green Algae and Spirulina Get E3Live Here! Coupon Code: Drew2014

Hey FitLifer,

We all go through our day, and at a certain point, we start to crash. Our bodies become slightly weaker, we become distracted, and everything seems to slow down.

This may happen at 2:30pm, it may happen at noon, it may even happen within hours of waking up. Everybody is different, but most people hit this very point every single day.

So what do we do?

We pop over to that savior of a vending machine and grab all the sugar we can, just so we can make it through the rest of the day.

Soon enough, the sugar wears off and we are more tired and lethargic than before. Good luck getting to the gym after work, or even trying to play with your kids and spend quality time with your loved ones.

But before I tell you about this incredible ingredient, let me tell you a bit about the other two ingredients in what I call my "Coconut Lunar Smoothie":

coconut creamI've been on a coconut craze lately. Why? Because coconut acts as an amazing transport. When combined with coconut, your body absorbs up to 40% more of the other available nutrients.

If you don't have time to blend your own coconut flesh, then you can use coconut milk. It is a great alternative!

This recipe is sweet, it's healthy, but I wanted to add that refreshing element to it as well. Mint is my absolute favorite additive. It's incredibly refreshing and will give you a ton of energy in the morning time. It also improves digestion, which will further add to the absorption of nutrients in your body!

Luckily there is a solution....Blue-Green Algae! Ya, algae :)

With the addition of blue-green algae, nature's very first protein, you can take on your day with the energy of a 12 year old on the first day of summer!

Blue-Green algae is an absolutely incredible superfood that is made up of Spirulina and Aphanizomanon flos-aquae. Well, I don't exactly no how to pronounce that second one so let's just call it AFA. This stuff will give your body the most natural form of nutrition, helping you feel energized and mental clarity all day long.

Here are 10 benefits of this amazing stuff!

AFA was the first protein ever and is known as our planet's first food. This means with blue-green algae you're really "getting back to your roots" :)

Algae is quite literally at the bottom of the food chain and is ounce for ounce the most nutritious food on the planet.

It is a complete protein. This means that it contains a complete profile of essential amino acids.
It has up to 5x more chlorophyll than wheatgrass, and over 65 minerals and vitamins.

We absorb 97% of nutrients from blue-green algae. In comparison, it has been shown that we only absorb between 5-25% of the nutrients from vitamin supplements.

NASA has been feeding algae to its astronauts for over 50 years! They have stated that 1 gram of blue-green algae has the nutritional equivalent of 1,000 grams of fruits and vegetables.

AFA has been used to lower oxidative stress.

Helps fight depression.

Reduces inflammation.

Contains an abundance of Omega 3 and 6 fatty acids, nourishing your brain and improving mental clarity.

E3 Live is the specific brand that NASA uses for it's astronauts. I mean hey, if it's good enough for NASA, it's good enough for me right?

They harvest all of their algae from the Upper Klamath Lake in southern Oregon.

Now, why does this matter? Well, this lake is one of the few remaining unpolluted alkaline lakes on Earth! As you can tell by now, I've done my research on algae.

These peeps know their algae and have figured out that the key to getting ahead with our diet, is taking a step back in time.

Remember, we're in this together...

Keep reading to see what other amazing benefits this morning glass of sunshine has waiting for you :)

Oranges are rich in citrus limonoids, proven to help fight a number of varieties of cancer including that of the skin, lung, breast, stomach and colon. Although oranges are acidic before you digest them, they contain many alkaline minerals that help to balance out the body after they are digested. In this respect, they are similar to lemons which are one of the most alkaline foods available.

Cucumbers are amazing vegetables for juicing. The skin of cucumbers are composed of many important minerals like silica. Silica is important for our connective tissue. It is also found in intracellular cement, muscles, tendons, ligaments, bone and cartilage. Even when juiced cucumber has a great source of silica. Cucumber juice also helps with skin complexion. When juicing cucumbers choose ones that are medium to dark green and firm.

Jalapeño can provide pain relief for migraine and sinus headaches. Capsaicin, the chemical that makes chili peppers hot, is known to inhibit a key neuropeptide, Substance P, that is the key brain pain transmitter. It also contains antibacterial properties that help fight chronic sinus infections. Eating jalapeño are naturally high in vitamins A and C, and also bioflavinoids. They help strengthen our blood vessels, which makes them more elastic and better able to adjust to blood pressure fluctuations.

Turmeric has potential anti-cancer properties. The main ingredient in turmeric is curcumin that block the growth of cancer by inhibiting cell signaling between cancer cells (UCLA). Antioxidants are important because they fight and neutralize cancer causing free radicals. Turmeric also improves skin complexion, acne and blemishes.

Coconut oil has resistance to oxidation, long shelf life, and cooking properties. They have antimicrobial effects, help with digestion and aid in nutrient delivery. MTC Oil helps flush out the toxins. Plus it helps the headache that you take with the one day juice cleanse.

Basil is great for anyone with arthritis or other inflammatory health problems. It's a great source of beta-carotene, which turns into vitamin A, as well as magnesium, iron, and calcium. Basil is rich in antioxidants, which help boost immunity.

Coconut Water

Coconut water is 94% water and fairly low in calories. It seems to be a good source of B vitamins and potassium. Coconut water contains electrolytes, various plant hormones, enzymes, and amino acids. Some substances in coconut water could theoretically have antioxidant benefits in the body.

I have spent years researching everything I could about nutrition, mindset, and wellness and I developed this system specifically from what I learned. In this system, you will finally eat foods that your body naturally wants you to eat. When this happens, you will find that it is possible to get in incredible shape, start living with a vibrant purpose, and help everyone around you find the exact same thing! I hope you enjoyed this video and learned something that you can pass along to your loved ones. Help spread the word of health and I'll see you right here, next week.

The universe must want me to continue to deliver fresh new videos to you every week and that's exactly what I intend to do.

The San Diego news station wanted me to talk about how to stay cool during the summer, which I happen to love teaching people about. You know I just had to show them what a proper water infusion looked like so they could show everyone that our community drinks water the right way!

What ingredients can we use for infusion water?

Despite popular belief that watermelon is made up of only water and sugar, watermelon is actually considered a nutrient dense food, a food that provides a high amount of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants for a low amount of calories.

Fresh summer strawberries are one of the most popular, refreshing and healthy treats on the planet. Wild strawberries have been popular since ancient Roman times and were used for a wide variety of medicinal purposes such as alleviating inflammation, fever, kidney stones, bad breath, gout and more.

Cucumber has an impressive amount of water (about 96%) that is naturally distilled, which makes it superior to ordinary water. Its skin contains a high percentage of vitamin A, so should not be peeled off.

New studies make it clear that we can freeze blueberries without doing damage to their delicate anthocyanin antioxidants. There's no question about the delicate nature of many antioxidant nutrients found in blueberries.

The strong and refreshing aroma of mint is a quick and effective remedy for nausea. Even just the smell of mint oil or freshly crushed mint leaves or the use of any product with mint flavor, and your stomach issues will be alleviated.

When feeling frazzled this summer, this herb can mellow you out. "Holy basil has antianxiety effects," explains botanist James Duke, PhD, author of The Green Pharmacy. It contains phytochemicals that studies suggest may lower cortisol, a hormone secreted when you're tense.

The raw pineapple juice is found to help in the stimulation of one's kidneys and also in relieving one's intestinal disorders. Some of the other main pineapple juice health benefits include its diuretic properties, thus keeping the body cool.

I hope you enjoyed this video and learned something that you can pass along to your loved ones. Help spread the word of health and I'll see you right here, next week.

Sean Stephenson Super Shake
Sean Stephenson Super Shake

Hi Fitlifers,

We're so blessed to have Sean Stephenson in the office today. Sean is an world renown teacher, motivator, and author. He's also very health conscious! He works out everyday and has a six pack. Today Sean will be sharing with us his super shake that he makes often back at home. Leave a comment below and let me know what you think!

spinachSpinach is one of the best sources of dietary potassium, weighing in at 839mg per cup (cooked). To compare, one cup of banana has about 539mg of potassium. Also, spinach contains an antioxidant known as alpha-lipoic acid, which has been shown to lower glucose levels, increase insulin sensitivity and prevent oxidative stress-induced changes in patients with diabetes. Studies on alpha-lipoic acid have also shown decreases in peripheral neuropathy and/or autonomic neuropathy in diabetics.

One cup of kale contains more than 90 mg of calcium. Studies have shown that calcium helps prevent osteoporosis, kaleosteomalacia, and rickets. Vitamin D is required to absorb calcium so enjoy a delicious kale salad with salmon.

Pineapple is rich in manganese that is necessary to build strong bones and connective tissues. It also has anti--inflammatory properties which when taken regularly, helps to reduce the pain (mild relief) associated with arthritis in elderly.

In study after study, the benefits of berries are lauded. Most recently, researchers revealed berries that women who ate more than three servings of blueberries or strawberries a week had a 34 percent lower heart attack risk than those who ate less.

Dr. Daniel G. Amen considers them one of the best brain-healthy foods that you can consume to help reduce the risk of developing Alzheimer's. Omega 3 fatty acids as well as Vitamin E are naturally occurring in avocados and have been clinically proven to stop Alzheimer's disease from progressing and possibly even reversing the very early stages.

To avoid a morning hangover or headache; eat a few cucumber slices before going to bed. Cucumbers contain enough sugar, B vitamins and electrolytes to cucumbersreplenish many essential nutrients, reducing the intensity of both hangover and headache.

Coconut Milk
Though coconut milk contains saturated fat, it can actually reduce cholesterol levels in comparison to butter and dairy based creams. This is because of its lauric acid boosts HDL (good) cholesterol. When choosing among saturated fats, coconut milk is preferable as it is easier for the body to break down and metabolize healthy fats such as omega 6 essential fatty acids.

3 Foods That Actually Get Healthier When You Cook Them
3 Foods That Actually Get Healthier When You Cook Them

Hey Fitlifers,

Welcome to this week's Saturday Strategy!

Today, we are going to talk about something we don't normally talk foods. You know that I absolutely love my sexy raw green juices, but when I learned about this, I knew I had to share it with you.

I want to tell you how to make some of my favorite vegetables healthier just by cooking them a little. Yes, you read that right, some foods can actually become more nutritious once you cook them.

You see, when you cook veggies the heat actually breaks down the plants' thick cell walls and aids the body's uptake of some nutrients that are bound to those cell walls.

When you eat tomatoes cooked, your body absorbs more of their cancer-fighting lycopene. Lycopene has been found to be even more powerful than vitamin C, but not many veggies have it.

Steaming asparagus ignites its cancer-fighting potential.

Cooking carrots increases their level of beta-carotene, a powerful carotenoid that is converted into vitamin A, which is absolutely amazing and essential for your hair, skin, eyes, and nails.

Heating mushrooms brings out more muscle-building potassium.
The fiber in kale does a better job of binding to bile acids in your digestive tract helping to lower cholesterol.

By having spinach cooked you'll absorb more calcium, iron, and magnesium.

Not only do these veggies become more nutritious, but they are easier to digest. Cooking helps us digest food without expending huge amounts of energy. It also softens cellulose fiber, which our digestive systems aren't equipped to handle, reducing bloating and gas.
Easier digestion will increase nutrient uptake. Optimal digestion will lead to high energy levels, better muscle growth, and quicker cell repair. You will even be able to burn fat faster :)

Another secret agenda is to help you lose fat easier by sneaking fiber back into your diet. Fiber passes through our digestive tract without providing nutrition or calories, and yet it is very healthy for us. Fiber will make you feel fuller longer lessening the urge to snack.

We also want to be sure that we do not overcook food. It is important to release the nutrients without destroying them. I don't want you cooking your foods too long and killing their vitamins and minerals (while also denaturing enzymes that aid digestion). So, lightly boil or steam your vegetables to save antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals.

Today, we are going to lightly cook this amazing soup recipe. This recipe includes a lot of ingredients that are more nutritious when cooked. You can always add in some other ingredients of your choosing. Just make sure to research them and see if they are better raw or cooked.

Soup Recipe:

Organic vegetable broth

Added Ingredients:

• Garlic, minced
• Ginger, fresh, grated or thinly sliced
• Carrots, chopped
• Tomatoes, cut based on preference
• Kale, destemmed and shredded
• Mushrooms
• Asparagus
• Onions (I'm using diced Green Onions for today)
• Peppers of your choosing (I'm using different Chili Peppers since I like my soups got :))
• Fresh Basil, shredded
• Himalayan sea salt to taste
• A squeeze of lime

**If you feel like you're missing something from the soup, I love to add spiralized zucchini to my soups (I'm Italian and just can't help it ;))**

Neural Reframing - Lose Weight Fast
Neural Reframing - Lose Weight Fast

Hello Fitlifers!

Welcome to another Mindset Monday. Always remember, we're in this together!

How do you set your goals? Are you clear with what you want to achieve? Are you passionate enough to chase it?

When some people achieve their weight loss goal, there may be subconscious hindrances that may cause people to go through that yo-yo phase as they regain back their weight.

I want to discuss WILLPOWER today.

What I want to tell you is that willpower is a state of mind. It's something that you could reinforce.

Find out your 'why' (Whydentity). Redirect your energy on knowing why you want to achieve a lifestyle transformation.

Here is the 3-step technique to achieve the transformation that you need.

1) Increase your willpower by changing old notions and principles.

Change your words that you speak over yourself. Change the old principles that you've been holding on especially if they are not serving you well.

Tell yourself constantly that it is possible to lose weight and keep that weight off.

You can gain new knowledge, information and resources by simply challenging yourself to change in order to achieve your goals.

2) Have the right mindset in projecting yourself with your goal.

Mindset is very important in re-framing your position with your goal. If you believe in yourself and hold on to that vision of yourself already achieving that goal, you will succeed.

In addition to the vision that you hold in your mind, infuse positive emotions that will fuel you to take the steps you need to achieve those goals.

3) Keep your mind clear to maintain your ideal body and image.

If you have already achieved your goal, never stop growing or challenging yourself. Look for ways to maintain your ideal body and image through visualization. This transformation process that you just went through wasn't an arduous or painful experience, but an exceedingly rewarding one.

Make the decision to keep yourself accountable for your actions and associate with positive people.

I'd love to hear your comments below — what are the things that you're willing to risk to achieve your weight loss goals?

How to Reverse and Prevent Adrenal Fatigue - Saturday Strategy
How to Reverse and Prevent Adrenal Fatigue - Saturday Strategy

Hey FitLifer,

It's another exciting episode of Saturday Strategy and this week I want to talk to you about a very important topic. This is something that can take it's toll on you for years before you even start to see symptoms.

What if I told you that how you treat yourself mentally, spiritually, and emotionally, can manifest itself physically? Now, this goes both ways, good and bad. So what is this potentially dangerous condition that I'm talking about today?

It's known as Adrenal Fatigue, and specifically how stress can lead to it. I've suffered from this in the past. I was at a job that demanded a ton of hours of very stressful work from me. I was sleeping, but I never felt rested. I worked out and ate decently healthy, but I couldn't seem to lose any weight. I was always tired, constantly reaching for that 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th cup of coffee, which just lead to a big crash later.

I started developing cravings for really bad food that I normally wouldn't eat. I couldn't figure it out.

Until I came across Adrenal Fatigue, then I knew that my stress had manifested into this condition. It's a lot more common than you think. It's estimated that 80% of people in Western developed nations all across the globe have suffered from AF at some point in their lives. Adrenal Fatigue is a condition where you develop a set of symptoms due to underactivity in the adrenal glands.

Major Symptoms include:
Trouble sleeping due to racing thoughts
Increased cravings for sweet and salty foods
Tired throughout the entire day, but suddenly feel energy around 6pm
Significantly longer time to recover from illnesses and injuries
Trouble losing weight

Here are a couple of tests you can run to see if you may be suffering from adrenal fatigue:

Pupil Test:
-Have someone shine a light to one of your eyes. If your pupil gets smaller and stays small with the light on your eye, then you are doing okay. If your pupil gets smaller and then returns to the original size, then you your adrenals are fatigued.

Skin Scratch Test:
-Either with your nail or something else with an edge, lightly scratch your lower abdomen, a bit off to the side. The line should start white, but turn red within 2 minutes. If it stays white after the 2 minutes, then your adrenals are fatigued.

I know this can seem a little overwhelming, but there are some strategies that you can employ to ensure that you deal with stress properly while limiting your exposure to it!

1. Remove unnecessary stress from your life
This can be difficult, but absolutely imperative to your recovery. Do you ever go out on the weekends with your friends, just to have them pressure you into excessive drinking and other "bad decisions".
2. Develop a nightly "relaxation" routine before bed
A major problem is that your body doesn't know when it is supposed to sleep because it is so jacked up from stimulants and irregular cortisol levels due to stress. Find a relaxing routine and do it every single night before you sleep.
As you fix your sleep schedule and start actually waking up feeling rested, there's no reason for the coffee in the morning or the energy shot at 2:30pm. Let your body tell you when it's tired and go with it. Are you feeling tired at work around 2:30? Go out for a quick walk and stretch out a bit. No one will care and you will re-energize yourself.
4. Eat a healthy, non-sugary diet and perform light exercise
Don't exercise excessively or lift heavy weights while recovering. Remember, you need to avoid stress and that includes stressing your body.
5. Increase your recovery with a juice fast
This is a no brainer. Juice fasting is a great way to hit the reset button on your body and let yourself heal, mentally and physically.

Since I brought up juicing, let's get to the ingredients in today's recipe!

Your Friends Are Making You FAT!
Your Friends Are Making You FAT!

Hello Fitlifers!

Welcome to another Mindset Monday. Always remember, we're in this together!

They say that you are the average of 5 of your closest friends!

It maybe true, it maybe not. But whatever it is, one thing is certain - and that is that our ideals, values and characters closely resemble those of our closest friends. And that's exactly the reason why we found a way to connect with them.

Subconsciously, our bodies respond towards the way we deal with our friendships. Sometimes even, we consciously make decisions beyond our realms and visions just to protect the relationships we have within these circles of friendships. And these are the very instances when our bodies release stress hormones that makes us fatter. When we absorb the negativities that we once thought are constructive because they hail from people that we trusted, it perpetuates into our system that it gets so difficult to flush them out after.

And on times when it compromises our goals in relation to how we see ourselves achieving them, it's high time to step back and assess where the friendship is positioned at and the role that it plays in the realization of your visions.

An example of which is destructive criticism. A toxic friendship is one that discourages you to achieve something in order to protect their insecurities. You need to be able to identify what constitutes this one because it can affect the realization of your goal if you hinged your choices on his or her destructive interventions. Those people who give you stress and negative vibes do not deserve a slot in your future if they're not supporting you to become a better person.

According to Katy Linsao and others, a good and healthy friendship involves feeling like you are supporting one another, acting as a sounding board for each other.

They furthered the factors of constructive friendship by stipulating that good friends don't compete negatively, and if there is competition, it is openly acknowledged and each other's achievements are lauded and appreciated equally. They said that good friends care for one another, and keep secrets between each other; spend time helping each other overcome adversity rather than creating it and maintaining it. They then laid out what good friendships are by saying that these are relationships that make both people feel good about themselves and feel natural, that even though a friendship needs to be worked on as much as any relationship, it doesn't feel like work but are like building foundations and growing a garden - pleasant, worthwhile, rewarding, and filled with give-and-take in equal measure.

Given those standards, it's easier to draw the line on what makes a constructive friendship as well as the destructive one. And it's very important for you to identify the latter because you're going to weed them out in the process in order for you to grow and move forward in reaching for your goals.

Florence Isaacs, author of Toxic Friends or True Friends explained that toxic friendship is unsupportive, draining, unrewarding, stifling, unsatisfying, and often unequal.

So how do you deal with it?

Recognize what constitutes a healthy friendship, and whether that brand of friendship you have right now with someone is still under those standards. You need to be willing to cut people that aren't deserving your highest good, that aren't building you up, that aren't inspiring you. After all, it's best to know as early as possible the people who are with you in your journey.

Then act on your feelings and analysis of the situation. If you recognize the signs of a toxic friendship, get yourself out of it and move on. It is not worth continuing at the expense of your health, self-esteem, and happiness.

If you want the best body and mindset in life, you really need to analyze your friends because you're the average of your five closest friends to you. And whether you like it or not, they affect you as much as you affect them. Now, be in the center of your decisions and choose the people who you want to be with in realizing your visions.

Always remember, we're in this together...

What I REALLY eat for breakfast (hint: it's NOT just juice)
What I REALLY eat for breakfast (hint: it's NOT just juice)
Interested in the juicer on the show? Get it here:

Hey Fitlifers

Welcome to another Saturday Strategy!

Today I want to talk to you about an extremely important part of my morning routine and something you should NEVER skip...

The word "Break fast" literally means to "break the fast". You've been sleeping hopefully for at least the last 8 hours and your body is starving for food. You've been recovering and you're hormones have adjusted to make sure that you can rest properly. Now it's time to get your hormones working toward giving you plenty of healthy energy, and having your metabolism fire!

The typical American breakfast is so commercialized with sugar-coated cereals and other processed foods, it's not wonder why obesity is at an all-time high...

Of course, you all know that I love to start my morning off with a big glass of Green Juice! Starting my day by feeding my body with all those incredible phyto-nutrients is something I can not go without.

That being said, there is something I also eat every morning that may shock you. I'll talk a little more about that, but first, let me give you the ingredients for this week's Break The Fast Green Juice.

Now, I told you that I don't just drink green juice in the morning for breakfast. I also eat something that my body happens to respond very well to. This may not work for everyone, and as always, I suggest you eat foods that work with your specific body type.

This mystery food I'm talking about has been the source of controversy for years. But I'm here to tell you that this food, when eaten in the right portions, is actually beneficial for your cholesterol, can help fight against certain cancers, is one of the best sources of healthy fat, will give you long-lasting energy, and help you lose weight! What is this food???

I know that I may have lost some of you here, but please, give them a chance. They are absolutely incredible if they work with your dietary preferences. They don't work for everyone, but for me, they are incredible. They've gotten kind of a bad rap, which I don't think is deserving.

Eggs contain choline, which studies have shown can help fight against breast cancer. They also contain a ton of Omega-3 fatty acids, helping satisfy your hunger, curb cravings, and feed your brain!

Moreover, studies show that eggs are more beneficial to the cholesterol in your body, rather than adding cholesterol to one's diet. Now, this is when eaten in the proper portions. Everyone is different and everyone's bodies respond differently. Make sure you consult a doctor before making any major changes to your diet.

A research from Louisiana State University concluded that the egg breakfast enhances weight loss. The inclusion of eggs in a weight management program may offer a nutritious supplement to enhance weight loss.

Okay, now that you've let me babble on about breakfast, let's get to who won the juicer!

This week's winner is: Roxana Saez

I'd also like to dedicate this video to one of our members that has seen some incredible results and has been with our movement since early 2013.

This week Saturday Strategy is dedicated to: Nick Dave Foster

Fitlifers, if you want to grab the chance of winning the juicer next week like Roxana Saez, make sure you leave a comment on the blog to register. We want to hear from you!

This week, the Fitlifer who leaves the best comment on this blog explaining "What do you eat for breakfast". We're giving away a juicer once a week. You are all invited!

I know a lot of this week may have been new information to you, and that's okay. Each week, I strive to give you content that is new and will further help you in your transformation journey.

If you find that you're having trouble getting healthier. Trouble fitting into those jeans you wore back in high school. Trouble finding passion in your life...I'm here to help.

I want you to give The Juice with Drew System a try.

I haven't pooped in 3 days...Is that bad???

Why is juicing making me fat?
Why is juicing making me fat? To get started with the Juice with Drew System

The bottom line is that you are juicing the wrong way. I don't want you to worry about this. I made this very same mistake when I started my juicing journey. Juicing takes practice and no one becomes a pro overnight. Now let's get to the problem so I can show you the solution.

When it comes to juicing for weight-loss, there is indeed a right way and a wrong way. When your main objective is fat-loss, you want to avoid sugar-containing fruits and vegetables. Yes, there are high-sugar veggies, such as beets and carrots. Why is this bad? The simple answer: because extra sugar gets stored as fat.

Here's a little science on fat storage and sugar consumption for you:

Sugar consumption causes a spike in blood sugar levels inside the body
Your pancreas secretes insulin as a response
The insulin pulls the sugar (which is now glucose) out of your blood and takes it to your cells
Your body can only handle a certain amount of glucose
Once the limit is reached, any excess is stored as body fat
As higher insulin levels are needed, your body creates an inflammation response
This hinders other body functions, like fat burning (this means stalled weight loss or even weight gain)
So to some it all up...Too much sugar = too much insulin = body fat storage

Here's another reason why juicing is stalling your weight loss.

For this answer, you must first understand a little science behind hormones and your metabolism.

Two hormones play a huge role in hunger, fat storage and metabolism. Those are ghrelin and leptin. Both hormones respond to how well-fed you are.

Ghrelin tells the body that it is hungry.
Leptin tells the brain that the body has had enough to eat, producing a feeling of satiety.
Our bodies are stubborn. They do not like change; it's a survival thing. When we diet, our bodies rebel by revving up our appetite hormones. When we consistently take in less energy, our bodies respond by making us hungrier and decreasing our metabolic (burn) rate.

Anyone who has dieted knows that it is difficult to lose weight when you are hungry and when your metabolism isn't burning efficiently. Unfortunately, many people diet too hard and then succumb to their hunger pangs (often times bingeing or yo-yo-dieting).

What is the best way to prevent this? Breaks in juice fasting as well as planned and regular re-feeds should be in place. This affects leptin positively and allows for maintenance of muscle and strength.

When you move forward with the Juice with Drew 90 Day Challenge, you will combine juice fasting and solid-food meals in order to not only keep your hormones in check, but have them finally work for you and your body.
