3 Tools to Get Over Self Sabotage

Sometimes, the most difficult pains that we suffer are not inflicted by the people that surround us. They are self-inflicted pains. And the worst of which is simply not loving ourselves.

In this Mindset Monday, we will examine 3 tools to get over self-sabotage in order to live a better life.

1) Realize what is going on!

While it sometimes gets blurry, you need to be able to identify whether you’re already sabotaging yourself. You need to draw the line. There’s a fine line between learning from your failures by looking at them, and taking these shortcomings, doubts and insecurities to your lifestyle. So the first step in getting over self-sabotage is realising that you are sabotaging yourself. If you know the root of the problem, you know where to start your solution.

Now that you know that you’re there, ask yourself, “what can I do to get out from here?” Don’t deny the help that is available around you. There’s always some help out there, and you have to stop being afraid to ask for help. At least there, you’ll realise that you’re not alone in this battle, and that someone can and will help you.

2) Rewire yourself.

It’s always in your mindset. Accept that you are in your situation, but focus on what you can do in order to move forward. Stop focusing on the negative things. And acknowledge that everything happens for a reason.If you realise that you have the power to get over your denials, you will start acknowledging the possibilities around you. And then, you will slowly feel that you can create a better reality than your current situation.

3) Rewrite your story.

In Fitlife, we call this process the “Whydentity”. And you need to constantly upgrade your Whydentity - the story of who you are and who you want to be.

Challenge: 10-15 minutes before you go to bed, think about the reality that you want to create. And create your situation. Stop wondering how it’s all going to happen and start acting like it already has!

Dream big, Fitlifer! And slowly, these pieces of imaginations will turn into a reality.

23 Ways You Can Painlessly Cleanse Your Body – Saturday Strategy

In reality, there are a lot of things you can do on a daily basis to gently cleanse and nourish your body!

1) Water - Start off your morning with a warm glass of fresh squeezed lemon water and - if you’re daring - add some baking soda.

2) Meditation - There are a lot of meditation aids online such as Alpha Waves, which plays music specifically formulated to help the mind relax and focus.

3) Juicing with dandelion greens - We highly recommend adding dandelion greens to your juice or smoothies! Don’t have time to juice? Try our superfood-packed green drink powder Organifi.

4) Your Lymph System, Using Dry Brushing and Rebounding - Dry brushing is the process of running a brush in specific, continuous, circular motions across your skin, upwards towards your heart.

1. Be unforgettable.

Leave a mark in someone else’s life. Do something that is outside your comfort zone. Give people a reason to smile when they remember you.

2. Be attentive.

Be radically present in the situation you’re in. If you are having a conservation with a friend, listen. If you are in a class, listen and be engaged. When you are attending in the environment that surrounds you, your world will also start to become attentive to you.

3. Be improving.

Learning should never stop. We should continually invest in our own growth by exploring new opportunities or trying out new hobbies. Maybe you would want to try a new fitness routine, or you’re interested in enrolling for a cooking class. Improve yourself so that you can create a new you.

4. Be real.

There’s an inherent value in being an authentic person. When you’re being honest not just with yourself but also with other people, you unlock that gap between you and the people around you. You won’t have to hold back. And then you will start realising the value of being real and why people let their guards down only to those who are genuine to them.

5. Be Fun.

Do something that awakens your spirit and enlivens your soul. Do something fun with your friends, family, and simply yourself. Think about the things that make you happy and chase after them. It’s all going to be worth it, especially when you know that positivity happens when we keep the fun moments around. People who attract positivity also attract the love and support that they need in life.

You are in control of your life. You can design your own happiness. It does not happen overnight. But it happens in small steps that change not just your life but also the people around you!

How To Reframe Your Attitude When You Can't Change Your Situation - Mindset Monday

Sometimes, we are not in control of our situation. And we don’t even have to. We have to deal with every situation that we are facing. However, as things become more difficult, we tend to ask ourselves more questions. Why are all odds turning against us? What can we do to flip the situation and get away from our present?

Here are some tools that can help you in reframing your attitude when you can’t change your situation.

1. Change your thinking.

Start fueling your mind with positive thoughts. When we are clouded with negativity, all the things around us will be affected. It can affect our relationships, careers, and everything else that matter to us. With a positive mind, you start inspiring positivity in your environment. And instead of looking at how bad your current situation is, you will start thinking about how you can still change the course of your situation and say that positive things lie ahead.

2. Start examining the story that you are telling to yourself.

Ask yourself about the story that your mind is telling you. Is it serving your highest good? Sometimes, it’s really just about how we create our own life stories. If your life story is based on your past, then you might want to recreate a better one that will make you move forward to a better future. Spend some time to think about it. Meditate. And tell yourself of the best life story you could imagine.

3. Laugh when it hurts.

We all have different ways of dealing with hurt. But sometimes, it only takes a good laugh to forget all the pain. Put yourself in a state of spontaneous laughter, if that’s what it takes to give yourself a break and reframe your thinking.

4. Change your mood.

If you can’t change the situation, change your mood. Remember how a smile can change a gloomy environment into a bright one. And you know what studies say, when you force yourself to smile, happy thoughts start rushing into our minds. A negative situation doesn’t always call for a negative reaction. So instead, why don’t you do something to lighten up the situation? Listen to music. Dance. Do something spontaneous. Change your mood. You may not be able to change the situation. But at least you have a better mood to think about how you can deal with the problem constructively.

5. Do things that make you feel good about yourself.

Your reality is a reflection of your mindset. If you have a messy environment, maybe you need to de-clutter. Start pulling up the pieces by cleaning what’s around you. And when you start seeing things in order, you will feel lighter and accomplished. If you want to travel because you know you will be happy at the very least, do it! Break free and give yourself a favour. You may not change the situation but you’re doing something for yourself, one step at a time. And that’s one step closer to being able to fully reframe your attitude in dealing with your current situation.

Fitlifer, life bombards us with constant challenges. But attitude is key, and the only thing that separates you and your situation is your attitude towards the situation. The question is, how are you going to deal with it?

Habits of Highly Authentic People

Depending on someone’s background, environment, and circle of influence, the idea of success is often very intertwined with material possessions. Physical, temporary things like money, accomplishments, houses, cars, clothing, and popularity. In my own personal experience, being successful has nothing to do with money, property ownership, or material possessions, and it has everything to do with how authentic someone is. Hands down, the happiest people I’ve ever met, all fall into one category. They are the most in tune with their authentic selves.

So here are 7 habits of highly authentic people:

1) They are honest - Not only are they honest with themselves, but they are honest with others. Every interaction we have, be it business, friendship, or romance, has a potential to be enhanced and deepened by honesty. The same goes for our relationship with ourselves. The more honest and open we are with ourselves, the more at peace we are contemplating and addressing our innermost thoughts and desires.

2) They understand that integrity is everything - When you operate from a very authentic place, you want to make sure you’re treating people as you would want to be treated. If you start living by the golden rule, it starts to show up in other facets of your experience. I do believe it comes back around.

3) They laugh at their own limitations - Some people take themselves very seriously. They attempt to micromanage every aspect of their lives. This may provide some temporary peace of mind for they analytical types, but usually, if just one thing goes wrong, or different, then their whole world comes crashing down. If you can laugh at yourself, and not take yourself too seriously, it’s gonna save you a lot of pain and headaches in the long run.

4) They love learning - Several studies show a direct link between overall happiness, and personal growth. Learning something new every day, about the world, the universe, people, places, things, and having an INTEREST in something, and a passion to discover more, will keep you authentic and make you personally successful.

5) They are present - Whether it’s prayer or meditation, it keeps you in the moment. Living in the past, or the future, pulls us out of the present moment. Being authentic is being present. Living the experience, the moment.

6) They are retrospective - While remaining present, it’s also necessary to look back on life lessons. How can we lead ourselves to a higher level? How can we take what we learned last week, and apply to to this present moment.

7) They truly love who they are - Self love is absolutely vital when being authentic.
Taking the shadows and flaws of who you are, and accepting them. Demonstrate in your own experience that the ups and downs are a part of the journey. Being authentic is loving everything about us that makes us who we are.

8 Ways to Increase Your Mental Performance

There are millions of benefits attached to having a sharp mind. This translates to good memory, sharp responses, impressive logic and many other things. These are perks that follow when you have mental performance. But looking at the contrary, if our minds are not well performing, we feel weak internally. And then we start to feel how our slow mental capacity affect ourselves, the relationships around us, and the decision-making that we do for our future.

The bottom-line is, we acknowledge the importance of mental performance.

So for this week’s Mindset Monday, we will give you some tips on how to increase your mental performance.

1) Fasting

There’s a good reason why fasting has been practiced even by the elders many decades ago.

By fasting, you give your brain an opportunity to develop and function the way it should. It’s simply about taking a break.

2) Hydration

The human brain is made up of about 75% water. From this fact alone, we can say that getting hydrated all day is an important part of increasing your mental performance. Drink lemon water every morning after waking up.

3) Exercise

By simply doing exercise, we enhance our thinking abilities. We consider how much lapses do we need to run for, the pacing of our walks, the movements that we take, etc.

4) A Cold Bath Followed by Something Hot

This thermal conditioning of the body works well for me. It may be different from one person to another. But our brain communicates with what our bodies are experiencing, which includes the temperatures in our surroundings.

5) Communication

The more engaged we are, the more present we are. When we communicate, we use use our brains actively to be able to come up with a sharp response.

6) Studying in the Morning.

We have to feed our brains with new thoughts and information. And what may possibly be the best time to do that? It’s the morning.

7) Quality Sleep.

We should always aim for a REM sleep. When we achieve that complete sleep cycle, we become mentally sharp in our ways.

8) Stack Super Foods or Supplements.

You should supply yourself with super foods and supplements that will shape your body to health. More specifically, there are certain foods that are good for the brain.

When you see things that you think you can buy with your hundred dollar, imagine that you’re actually buying it. But keep that in your mind. Just imagine the thought that you’re actually doing it.

2) Keep a note in your shower of what you wanna create.

What exactly is your goal? When you know what you want, you will never lose track. You have to constantly remind yourself of what you want so that you can easily identify if the things that you do are still in line with your purpose. And the next thing you know, the only thing that separates you and your goal is determination.

3) Realizing your own uniqueness.

We all have our own unique qualities. But we have to figure out what we’re good at, and what we can utilise to use for our own advantage. 4) Leave piles of money in different areas of your house.

It’s all about reprogramming your subconscious mind to turn an imagination into something tangible for you. With the plethora of diets and meal protocols bum-rushing the market, and the multitudes of “health” products swooping in to satisfy each and every new trend, how do you decide which plan is right for you? While there are many contradictory claims, the important thing I hope we all agree on is this: The Standard American Diet doesn’t benefit anyone.

So here are 3 healthy swaps to the SAD diet that I recommend everybody consider trying:

1. Processed Sugar - Sugar has been linked to inflammation, lowered immune system, diabetes, obesity, and even heart disease. Based on new research, a sweet tooth can be quite dangerous in the long run.Try some honey in your tea instead of coffee and sugar. Swap the ice cream with some blended up frozen bananas and berries. If you absolutely must have cookies, pies or other desserts, cook them yourself and swap the processed sugar with some agave nectar or honey.

2. Dairy - In my opinion, dairy is not necessary, especially the dairy from cows injected with steroids, hormones, and antibiotics. If you appreciate the benefits of a calcium-rich beverage, but can’t handle the indigestion or mucous-like side effects of cows milk, you can give goat’s milk a try. If you need a creamy drink for your smoothies or other recipes, try coconut or almond milk. Check the ingredients to avoid carrageenan.

3. Wheat - Removing gluten from my diet actually proved very beneficial. Yes, that includes beer and whiskey. It wasn’t easy, but after a couple weeks I noticed my stomach having less bloating and indigestion. My head felt more clear, and I had much better sleep. If you really think about it, in terms of micronutrients, wheat doesn’t have NEARLY as many vitamins or minerals as vegetables and fruits. Beans, veggies and fruits also have more fiber than wheat. If you’re a bodybuilder, athlete, or you exercise quite a bit, you’ll probably need some kind of grain for those extra calories. In that case, my favorite gluten free grains are quinoa, and brown and white rice. (Some sourdough breads are low in gluten, depending on the fermentation process.)

Our Mitochondria turn food and oxygen into energy. They are the missing link between what we eat, and how we function. They are a key component to our metabolism, and they are extra concentrated in our most active tissues and organs like our heart, our brain, and our muscles. Mitochondria are also our key to longevity, and how we age. New reports are linking almost all degenerative diseases and age related complications to DAMAGED Mitochondria.

Well our mitochondria, the battery chargers in this case, are very sensitive. Therefore, mitochondria are constantly damaging themselves and each other. As we age, more and more of these little “battery chargers” are burning out. Our body’s antioxidant defenses start to diminish and the signs of aging become apparent throughout our bodies:

- Fatigue

How To Be Positive - Mindset Monday

“A negative mind will never give you a positive life”.

If you want to achieve success and happiness, you need to be optimistic. There are countless benefits of positive attitude. It’s a state of mind that we should all be develop. When we adopt it as a way of life, changes slowly unfold around us. We become happier, brighter, and more successful.

However, thoughts and attitude do not change overnight. Some inner work has to be done. For this week’s Mindset Monday, we will give you the 3 things that can help you stay in a positive state!

1) Recognize when you are not being positive.

It’s very important that you acknowledge where you are right now. Assess your current state. Are you being negative? Do you easily see the negativity of things?

If you recognise that you are in a negative state early on, you give yourself an ample time to address it, before it gets worse and become contagious. So start the process in pieces. Think about how you can step out of that negative zone by looking at the brighter side of a negative situation. Maybe, you can think about the smallest things that you feel grateful of. And do it again, and again, and repeat the cycle. In no time, you will slowly feel this change in you. And you will gradually embrace positivity in your life.

2) Practice it.

It’s about pouring your mind with positive thoughts constantly, so that you can get rid of the negativities. We clean our bodies by pouring in clean water, and same goes with positive thoughts that we fuel into our mindsets. When we practice optimism, we begin realising that life can be viewed in a better picture. We don’t have to lock ourselves in a prison cell barred with doubts, fears and insecurities.

Let go of the negative thoughts and embrace the positive side, anytime and anywhere.

3) Laugh at yourself!

We don’t have to take life seriously, all the time. We sometimes find ourselves in a ridiculous or awkward situation. Instead of blaming ourselves or thinking how we messed up. why don’t we just laugh about it and move forward? That way, you can let go of the negativity that surrounds in a negative situation. And start radiating a positive aura by laughing at yourself. If you can afford to laugh at yourself, you can start sharing laughter with others.

With the end of 2014 and the beginning of a new year, I wanted to take some time to say, a resounding THANK YOU to everyone watching and reading and joining us in our journey.

At this point, we are reaching millions of people with the beautiful truth that is a Body, Mind and Spirit TRANSFORMATION. Becoming the person we were born to be. The person that’s been dying to break free and be seen. Free of fear and worry. Living life in the present and tasting every moment to its fullest.

With the thousands of transformation stories I’m reading every month, there are 3 Tools to Transformation that I’d like to share with you.

Set A Goal - Success isn’t achieved in a day, and the Body & Mind transformation that you’re seeking doesn’t happen overnight. Instead, it’s a series of small victories, tiny steps that lead you toward your greater goal. When setting any goal, the first step is to describe in vivid detail where you are now. Today. Then take a written “snapshot” of your current diet and activity levels. So put the picture and your written notes on dropbox, google drive, or someplace safe. Now, find a picture of someone you may want to look like (not for vanity’s sake, and not to impress others, but because that person looks healthy.) And finally, write down the activity levels and diet goals that it will take to get there. Now, for the next 90 days, let’s do our best to stick to those diet and activity level goals. They will be our roadmap. The difference between goal setting and daydreaming!

Join A Community - Whether it’s a buddy system, a forum, a meetup group, or a coaching program, ACCOUNTABILITY is so important. Bob Proctor says “Accountability is the glue that ties commitment to the result.” And it’s sooooooo true. This is your passion and your desire and your goal, yes.

Make It Fun - This is huge, and this is something that many goal setters forget. We make goals, because we want to achieve or accumulate something challenging, something that we don’t have right now in the PRESENT.

With all of that being said, cheers to a happy new year,and here is a hangover cure recipe for those of you that may run a little wild with the champagne:

1) Make meaningful goals.

We want you to ask your “Whydentity”. What motivates you to get up every morning? Selfless goals will make us meaningful goals. When we impact our community, they impact us in return.

So it’s important to have a mindset that looks at meaningful goals that benefit the community or the people that you value the most. In no avail, the positive impact that you caused to other people will go back to you hundred fold.

2) Do something every day and get a little bit better at it.

It’s always about personal growth. In life, it’s always about the journey. It’s never about what pot is waiting for us in the end. So we might as well just use our time meaningfully.

Invest on your own improvement. Allocate time to improve in your craft. Success does not happen overnight. But instead, it’s a constant trial and error process. And when you work hard for that goal, every single day, that’s when you settle to a higher standard. Until then you realise that you are already at the top of your game. So be a learner and continue learning!

3) Hone in on your craft!

While multitasking allows us to do a lot of things, it also disrupts our ability to deliver optimum results. Choose one craft that you really love! And be a master of it. Invest your time and dedication to it. And when you have acquired these skill set, you can use them to move on to your other interests.

Many clinical tests and trials have concluded that our feelings of happiness have a direct correlation with the following “happy hormones.”

•Serotonin - This hormone is DIRECTLY responsible for feelings of happiness. Boost your serotonin with sunlight, flax seeds, sour cherries, and bananas.
•Phenylethylamine - This is the hormone we feel while we’re in love. Yes, large amounts of chocolate can boost this hormone (although I would recommend raw cacao over chocolate.) Legumes and nuts also add to the “love” drug that our body creates.
•Endorphins - Endorphins reduce our sensitivity to pain, and lower our stress. We can increase our endorphin production by aromatherapy with vanilla, cinnamon, drinking ginseng tea, and my personal favorite’s Laughter and Exercise!

I believe each and every one of us has a divine purpose, with enormous potential for loving, building, creating and healing. So here are 2 huge “mental ingredients” for finding happiness and overcoming seasonal depression.

•Be Grateful - As I talked about in a recent Mindset Monday video, part of my daily ritual is to think of at least 30 things that I’m grateful for, and list them off before bed. Try it. At least 30. The first few will be big, but as you begin reaching for other blessings, be them people, opportunities, or experiences, you’ll notice your mood begin to change.

•Love More - The most beautiful part about loving more, is once you take that step, that’s when the magic happens. That’s when you see the love and fulfillment reflected back, and eventually, it will spread from person to person, and you are now beginning to see how were are all infinitely connected.

So today, let’s make a Seasonal Depression Fighting Juice! Here’s what’s in it:

3 Ways to Radically Boost your Confidence - Mindset Monday

Confidence is an important issue that all of us are facing. It’s the key to unlocking opportunities in this world with our own potentials. But the absence of which could also affect us since we don’t have a lifetime to hide under our shells.

Internally, the best way to deal with lack of confidence is to go back to our mindsets. Think about how ‘we are not separated from the whole’. While all of us are bounded with different problems and experiences, we live in a common world that links all of us together. We are somehow connected in a world that continually subjects us to things that make us feel like we are alone. But if we acknowledge the opposite, we will not feel that we are facing our problems alone, that this world is too big for us, and that to fight against our fears is an uphill battle that we will never be able to overcome.

In today’s Mindset Monday, we will give you three steps so that you can radically boost your confidence:

1. Mental Recall

Think about those times when you felt so proud of yourself. Put that in your mind. Recreate a situation in the past when you felt so confident. Think about how it feels. Remember every detail that you could remember. And then enter into that confidence bubble.

Maybe, you can anchor your thoughts into that memory and feel confident. Step back, and bring in that big feeling of joy when you felt good about yourself and you’re not holding back. And maybe, you can let go of those doubts, fears and insecurities and start revealing yourself into a new confident you!

2. Lean Into The Fear of Not Being Confident

It pays off to constantly challenge yourself, and obviously, staying within your comfort zone won’t do you any good in the long-term. So think about going beyond what you already know, and start learning new things that will challenge you, so much so that you can tell yourself in the end that, “Hey, I can do this!”

3. Change Your Physiology

Posture, Head Up, Eye Contact. These three can tell us about how confident we are. So instead of caving in to our usual ways, why not try elevating our posture and maintain an eye contact?

These are just some of the signs of a confident person. And when we slowly practice them day by day, we will get to a point of being confident. When we see a confident person, he or she radiates this positive energy of genuineness. It’s all about being honest to ourselves and becoming self-confident.

Bonus Tip: Stop Thinking About Yourself

The most impactful moments of our lives are those that are beyond ourselves. It doesn’t always have to revolve around what benefits us, or what can best feed our self-esteem. One of the best ways to feel confident is to feel that we are in a community that accepts us for our true selves. And therefore, we should return that with the favour of touching on other people’s lives.

Ask yourself, “Who am I impacting?” And gradually, your life will begin to shift to a “give-centric” life.

Confidence is an important factor in our lives. When we hold back, we lose a lot of opportunities that we may only regret about when we grow old. We have all the time now to be true to ourselves and live a life with confidence. We don’t have a lifetime to live under the shadows of doubts, fears and insecurities. Our role is to accept ourselves and be confident about what we’re doing.

Home-Made Organic Herbal Cough Syrup - Saturday Strategy

There’s nothing more annoying than a cough, and if you have kids, there’s nothing more sad than hearing that child suffer with a cough throughout the night.

Coughing is one of those defense mechanisms that our body uses to fight disease. Remember the blog on inflammation? In the same way, however, when these defense mechanisms become chronic, it may be a sign that WE are doing something that irritates our bodies. Your cough may be a sign of the cold or flu virus. It may be a sinus infection. It may also be an allergy.

Regardless of the cause, here are some foods you may want to avoid while you have a cough:

Milk - I used to get 2 sinus infections per year until I removed cow’s milk and dairy from my diet. It thickens mucous and makes your sinuses a very pleasing environment for bacterial growth
Nuts - Some nuts, especially peanuts, have been linked to an allergic cough. Removing these from your diet may ease the agitation in your throat.
Wheat - Wheat allergies are very common, and several of the symptoms are swollen throat, itchy throat, and cough. Try avoiding wheat as well while you are experiencing cold and flu-like symptoms such as a cough.

Here are some positive tips to help you ease a cough:

Stay Hydrated - Drinking plenty of water will thin the mucous in your throat and sinuses, and allow the material to properly drain without causing as much irritation.
Drink Lemon Water - Lemon has natural antimicrobial effects and can help reduce inflammation in your throat.
Use Cloves in a Diffuser - Cloves are naturally anti-microbial and fight inflammation. They also have been used as a natural pain reliever. You can boil some cloves in water, or put some clove oil in a diffuser. Stand nearby and breath in the aroma. The particles will flow through your sinuses and throat, killing bad bacteria and easing pain in your throat.

Finally, I’d recommend making a homemade Organic Herbal cough syrup! These are delicious, fun to make, and will help ease our cough. Here’s the recipe:

2 tbsp Lemon Juice
2 tbsp Marshmallow Root
2 tbsp Ginger
2 tbsp Chamomile
½ tbsp Cinnamon
½ Cup Honey
2 Pints of water

Directions: Bring the water to a boil, and add the roots and spices (all the wet ingredients.) Let it simmer until it has reduced about 40%. Then strain the water into a jar and let it COOL. Add the honey and lemon juice (after it’s cooled, we don’t want our honey to cook.)

As much as we value our dreams, it’s equally important to put focus into our reality. Living the moment is an important reminder that the things happening around us are products of our life choices, and that we can have a hold on our own reality.

Today, we will tackle that issue. We will give you the 3 ways of creating your own reality:

1) Decide.

Decide to be that certain way. What do you want to create in your reality? It’s important that you clearly understand where you are right now and where exactly do you want to be? Examine the path that you are trudging and assess whether they are reflective of your life goals and purpose.

It’s always better to be clear about the things that you value the most. And when you have a hold into your decision, you can create a future that is based on your reality. You keep yourself grounded and transparent. With a sound decision-making, you can create your own reality.

2) Become Detached.

Recognize that you are not your thoughts. It’s just like framing the situation in such a way that you’re seeing it from an outside perspective. Sometimes, we’re too clouded with so many thoughts, that we can’t think well about our situation. This is why we need to step back and think over again in a different angle.

And one of the effective ways to do it is to detach ourselves. We let go of the baggage that pulls us down, and consider the emotions that we should put energy on. That way, we can slowly process our thoughts and become a master of our own reality.

3) Progress is always better than perfection.

Stop chasing perfection and chase progress instead. A lot of people are drawn into thinking that perfection is the answer to everything. While it’s okay to set perfection as a standard, we need to understand that progress is the most important part of all journey. It’s always about learning.

While learning is not exclusive to setting progress as our working standard, we entitle ourselves to lesser stress when we settle to it because we’re looking at our present as learning steps for our future self. Life is a continuous learning and by constantly improving by aiming progress, we’re slowly achieving perfection.

Again, there are easy ways to create our own reality. Decide. Become Detached. Progress is always better than perfection. If we learn to take these messages deeply, we will know that life is too colourful to even hide behind imaginations. Live within our own truths, and all the good things will follow.

I’m talking about the OMEGA - 3 fatty acid. Now, if you go up to someone at a restaurant and ask “where can I get some fatty acid around here,” you may get slapped upside your cerebral cortex. (Ask me how I know.)

A purveyor of optimal health and a seeker of the truth should be VERY concerned with Omega-3s, and here’s why:

Omega-3s control the clotting in our blood (reducing risk of the number 1 killer in the U.S.)

Omega-3s build brain tissue (preventing depression, psychosis, ADHD, and alzheimers.)

Omega-3s, unlike some other fatty acids, CAN NOT be created from within our bodies. We must find them in food.

Yes, you read that right! Heart health and Brain health. Pretty important right? How CRAZY special is this fatty acid? So the next question is:

How can I get my hands on some of that fatty acid? (I had to do it.) First, there are some different types of Omega-3s:

Alpha-linolenic Acid (ALA)
Eicosapentaenoic Acid (EPA)
Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA)

ALA is found in flaxseeds, chia seeds, hemp seeds, cauliflower, purslane, and brussel sprouts. EPA and DHA are found only in fatty fish. The human body does have the capacity to convert ALA to EPA and DHA, however, there is not enough research to conclude that one type is more important than the other. We do know that they are BOTH incredibly beneficial.

So today, I’ve designed an incredible 3 Ingredient Omega-3 smoothie that’s super delicious, and really, really good for our brains and our hearts (and I need a lot of help in both areas!)

Here’s what we’re going to use:

Almond Milk - As a base, almond milk itself is high in Omega-3s, so it’s a great place to start. Also, unlike cows milk and soy milk, which are fortified with vitamins and minerals (meaning processed vitamins from GMO corn are added) almond milk NATURALLY contains copper, zinc, magnesium, and manganese. (Try to avoid carrageenan in almond milk.)

Strawberries - We’ve talked about berries, and how special and different they are than other fruits. They are still relatively primitive fruits. They are low in sugar, high fiber, and super high in anti-oxidants. Strawberries in particular have the most Omega-3s out of all the berries.

Chia Seeds - One of the most nutrient dense foods in the world, chia seeds are probably the best plant-based source of Omega-3s out there. Chia seeds are also a great source of magnesium and manganese.

Here’s the recipe:

2 Cups Almond Milk
2 Cups Strawberries
¼ cup Chia Seeds

Now that’s what I call a Mega Omega-3 smoothie. The best part is, it’s super tasty, AND if you make this a part of your diet, you are sharpening your mind, and preventing risk of heart disease and stroke.

The fear of rejection is a common concern. A lot of people are so afraid with rejection that they tend to hold back on things, simply because our mind is framed into thinking that rejection surmounts to pain.

Yet what we fail to acknowledge is the brighter side of rejection. This is when we look at the main reason why we’re afraid of it in the first place. It’s because naturally, we love affirmations. But sometimes, it clouds our thoughts. We’re too afraid of rejection that we tend to give up on other opportunities that could have brought us mileage.

A lot of the elements of social success carry with them a certain risk of rejection. Some of which are starting a conversation, hanging out with people, or expressing our opinions in casual discussions. While these things expose us to the possibility of being rejected, they also bring us closer to the possibility of successful interactions.

The fear of rejection has a lot to do with our maturity. As we grow old, we slowly learn how to deal with rejections. We gradually acknowledge our shortcomings, and we move on.

In this Mindset Monday, we will talk about the unknown upside of rejection. We will give you three insights so that you can utilise rejections for your own good.

1) Rejection = Protection

Life has its own way of teaching us things. And sometimes, they don’t come in the prettiest forms, such as rejections. But the way we deal with rejection has a bigger impact on us than the rejection itself.

On my case, I just tell myself that there’s something bigger, better and bolder opportunity that will come. Rejection protects us from the claws of complacency and challenges us to do more than what we think is enough. It protects us from settling with the least and accept life in its most solitary forms, but rather teaches us that there’s a bigger horizon out there we need to explore.

2) What Can I Learn From This?

It’s an important question. What can you really learn from this experience? I believe that rejections are perfect avenues to learn. We may get rejected from a certain aspect in our lives, but we learn to factor out what we’ve done wrong and move on from the situation.

That way, we know deeply within ourselves that if we are confronted with the same situation again, we already know how to respond effectively. And if we get rejected again, we learn again. Life is an unending cycle. It bombards us with challenges but we know we’ll make it through. If we take it wholeheartedly, we can turn rejections into inspirational experiences so that we can improve ourselves later on.

3) Have a Bigger Vision.

What’s more comforting about rejection is the idea that life does not end there. If we adopt a bigger vision, we can springboard easily from this experience to another. And when we look back, we will see these rejections as essential stepping stones to success.

Had we not been rejected, we couldn’t have worked hard enough to get our promotions in our next job? And the list goes on and on.

Have a positive attitude towards rejection. Acknowledge them as valuable moments in your life that will shape you to become the successful person you will become.

FOOD is medicine, and it is just as powerful at preventing sickness as it is curing it.

Whenever I'm feeling a little under the weather, or I'm bracing for a "cold" front (I live in San Diego), I usually don't waste any time. I reach for my secret weapon: TURMERIC.

INFLAMMATION is our body’s response mechanism to an abnormal occurrence or foreign invader, such as injury or infection. Acute inflammation is the kind we experience after an injury.

Chronic-inflammation however is very different. It contributes to 7 out of 10 of the leading causes of death in the United States. This kind of inflammation has been shown to cause a whole host of complications and diseases such as autoimmune diseases, arthritis, asthma, obesity, premature aging, and even heart disease and cancer.

So what causes chronic inflammation? Some factors are beyond our control such as injury, and infection, but a small brush fire can become a tragic blaze with the right environment. For us, over-consumption of sugar, saturated fats, trans fats, processed carbohydrates, artificial sweeteners and alcohol can fan the flames of chronic inflammation.


So how do we know if we are chronically inflamed? Here are some symptoms:

• Constant fatigue
• High blood pressure
• Ulcers or Irritable bowel syndrome

So how can we undo the damage of chronic inflammation and arm ourselves to prevent it in the future? Here are 5 Anti-Inflammation Hacks

• Dark Leafy Greens - Cytokines are a type of small protein that play a huge role in immune response and inflammation. Vitamin E, found in spinach and swiss chard, helps reduce the amount of cytokines in our body.

• Nuts and Seeds - While sunflower seeds are super high in vitamin E, all nuts and seeds contain anti-oxidants. These play an enormous role in the fight against inflammation by repairing the self-inflicted cell damage it causes.

• Beets - Another veggie super high in antioxidants, the beet has been shown to fight inflammation and help thin the blood. It’s also a good source of vitamin C.

• Ginger & Turmeric Elixir- I can’t stress enough how valuable ginger as a naturopathic treatment. For millennia, this root has been used to treat pain, swelling, allergies, stomach ulcers, and even cancer and heart disease with positive results across many cultures. Turmeric is another one of my favorites, helping reduce inflammation by easing our immune response.

Ashwagandha - Sometimes referred to as the indian ginseng, Ashwagandha root falls under the category of “adaptagen,” meaning it’s been shown to reduce stress and similar symptoms on the body.

• Exercise - Both aerobic and anaerobic exercise have shown to decrease C-reactive protein, also known as CRP. CRP is a marker of inflammation. Even being active once per week was enough to lower CRP in test subjects significantly.

I’ve I decided to take this individual through a rudimentary explanation of what toxins are, and what actually happens when we try to get rid of them.

Heavy toxins are far, far more serious, and more difficult to detox. How do I stick with my fitness goals?

As I always say, motivation is an important factor in realising our goals. This is why it’s always better to have a support base such as family, friends and a fitness community that shares the same ambitions with you.

So here are the 5 steps to change your life for the better:

Step 1: Pre-contemplation

This is where we all came from. It’s where we begin. This is when we don’t see and acknowledge the need to change. While pre-contemplation must be totally overridden, this stage provides us with a point of reference.

Step 2: Contemplation

Then you come at the stage of contemplating about the reality of your state, your current situation. And you slowly realise that things are not happening the way you want it to be. The portrait of a future that you would like to paint is getting farther from your current deeds.

Step 3: Determination

Determination is an important part of your long-awaited twist. How can you take a 360-degree twist when you’re not fully determined to achieve it? It’s all about having the right attitude to confront a certain goal.

Step 4: Action

Action is the most important step. But it requires a lot of thinking to be able to perform the right action, which is why all the other prior steps are equally important. On the other side, when we do things without planning, we have greater tendency to fall.

Step 5: Maintenance

We know for a fact that successes can go spiral down as fast as how the success was achieved when the effort to maintain it is poor. It’s probably about complacency, or this mentality that since we already felt a sense of achievement, we’re done. Maintenance is just as valuable as action. When you can’t make a routine out of this successful behaviour, you will definitely fail in the end.

Extra Step: Relapse

When we feel like we have already achieved our goals and we’re able to maintain the success that we’ve dreamed of, we still face challenges sometimes. There are no guarantees.

Think about new trends, new aspirations, and definitely higher goals. You can achieve these if you stay inspired and happy with what you’re doing, so much so with what you’re seeing. When you feel good about yourself, you have the confidence to take things to the extra mile. And that when you realise that a genuine change in your life happened.

Reflecting back on my life, I can’t help but notice that my triumphs and victories, be them physical, emotional, or spiritual, all start at one place. Sure, I had the INTENTION of changing my ways. Of starting anew. Revolutionizing the way I treated my body, the way I viewed myself, the way I viewed the world, but I never did ANYTHING about it. I never got up off the couch. I never tossed out the harmful junk food in my cabinet. I never filtered out the harmful relationships in my life. I NEVER put my foot to the pavement. That is, until I was presented with a very, very powerful tool:

THE CHALLENGE.

Throughout history, incredible achievements have been made, and new heights have been reached, simply by the simplicity of one individual challenging another, or even challenging themselves. For example: Leonardo Da Vinci’s “The Last Supper” was a challenge from the Convent of Santa Maria. Isaac Newtons “3 Laws of Motion” were a result of a challenge from another scientist and even Napoleon’s conquests were rumoured to be inspired by nothing more than a little “locker room talk” amongst his military friends.

My point here is this: Boredom never inspired rapid growth or transformation for anybody, and no one changes their life because they suddenly “FEEL LIKE IT.” If you’ve been waiting to change your life until you “feel like it,” well I’d hate to be the bearer of bad news but, you probably never will. Setting goals, challenging ourselves, and having others hold us accountable is the BEST way to truly make a positive change for the better.

What if you can change your attitude to be a better version of yourself? What if you can transform into someone that will be closer to your goals in life?

Here is my 7-step morning ritual:

Step 1: Be Thankful

I love making a gratitude list everyday, whether it is on my mind or it’s in the beads of the rosary. There’s so much to be thankful about life. Even the mere fact of waking up and having another chance to correct our mistakes is a big blessing that we need to be thankful for every single day.

Step 2: Figure Out 3 Tasks That Are Really Important the Next Day

Prioritization is key element of success. And when we prioritise right, we weed out unnecessary loads that kill our time. So try to factor out 3 tasks that you want to be completed before noon of the next day. Write it down in a sheet of paper or leave a sticky note in your computer so you won’t forget.

Step 3: Day Scripting

Being the scriptwriter of your life, tap on the power of your subconscious mind to be able to unlock possibilities. Start writing down in a journal the things that you want to become the next day. Maybe it has something to do with your attitude towards work, or behaviour towards relationships.

Step 4: Drink Water

Never underestimate the value of sating hydrated throughout the day. Water provides us with energy and if we don’t have enough water in our system, our bodies tend to react negatively and lowers our energy to do things.

Step 5: Exercise. Go to the Gym

While many people think that exercising is tiring, a right exercise is a necessity and ideally should be done during the morning. Exercise allows us to get rid of our body toxins by sweating. It also allows our joints and muscles to stretch out, preparing us for whatever activities we’re set to do.

Step 6: Meditation and Appreciation

Meditation has been popular these days precisely because of its indisputable healing powers. When we meditate, we reassess our life situations. We step back from all the toxins in this world. And then we start unlocking the realities of our lives and feel the inner energy inside us.

Step 7: Learn

What are you interested of? Where should you shift your attention to? Personal development. It’s one of the things that you should never forget to integrate in your morning ritual.

Follow these morning rituals and be the better version of yourself. Do this for straight 21 days and witness the change that’s happening in you.

How To Beat Sugar, Salt and Fat Cravings! + Fall Smoothie Recipe - Saturday Strategy

Whether we have the best costume idea, or the biggest parties, or see the scariest movies, the plundering and pillaging on Halloween night always culminates in one ridiculous spoil: An ENORMOUS bag of candy, and everybody was a winner… well, except our teeth, and our health.

We all know the tragic toll that sugar takes on our bodies. Sugar accounts for over 70 different chronic diseases, yet the average American consumes over 130 pounds of sugar per year! What's making us consume all of this sugar, even though we all know it's wrong? CRAVINGS.

Some cravings come from a physical source. For example:

Since many cravings revolve around sugary foods in particular, scientists are beginning to relate sugar cravings with addiction to other substances. Recent brain scan tests show that sugar, alcohol, and tobacco all stimulate the SAME part of the brain.

If we ate or drank extremely sugary or rich foods during a fun experience as a child or young adult, that SAME food may eventually trigger those same hormones we experienced in the past. Much like many people struggling with addiction, the feeling our vice gives us may remind us of a happy or fun experience.

So what do we do to overcome our cravings? Ask yourself this question: Do I desire and crave this food for comfort? Is the experience of enjoying this meal or snack an ESCAPE from something else? Lastly, am I eating this to remind myself of a better time?

If you need, don't be scared to find a professional to talk to. If food is an escape, let's talk to someone about why you don't feel happy or fulfilled. If you eat cookies or donuts to remind you of your past, let's talk to someone about what changed, and what we need to deal with or who we need to forgive to move on, and be happy in the moment. If your craving brings you comfort, in place of a loved one or friend, it may be time to surround ourselves with more comforting people.

So while you're working on your soul, let's bust out the blender and make a smoothie that will fill us up, and smash all of our nutrient needs BEFORE all these darn holiday parties roll around. Who like's fruitcake anyway? (hold the cake, and just gimme some fruit I'd say.)


Recipe:

1 bunch of spinach
½ banana
5 pitted dates
1 cup pumpkin puree
¼ cup sunflower seeds
¼ cup chia seeds
½ avocado
2 cups of almond milk
2 tsp cinamon
2 tsp pumpkin spice
1 tsp celtic sea salt


Friends, it’s impossible to tackle the issue of cravings without touching on the Body, the Mind, and the Spirit. It’s a decision. A step. A leap in a direction that, at first, may seem scary and uncomfortable. It is a direction toward which our heart and soul have been beckoning since the day we were born. It’s easy to see that looking back, but I would have told you it was crazy nonsense 4 years ago. Turn your fear into fuel!

We all have life goals to pursue. We want to achieve something that could help us in fulfilling our purpose in this world. But while we're all driven with goals in life, we're also bombarded with a lot of reasons to hold back. Our motivations get clouded by doubts, fears, insecurities and LIMITING BELIEFS.

What are these limiting beliefs?

- the feeling of not being enough
- having to work hard for money
- the feeling of not being deserving
- the belief that you are unlucky

And the list goes on! These things that we think are simple hesitations lead to big loopholes in our lives. They prevent us from pursuing things that we could have taken if we have enough self-confidence. These limiting beliefs constrain us from making our dreams into reality!

Here is a 3-step process for you to get over these limiting beliefs!

1) Do not agree with these limiting beliefs.

When you hear or see yourself in a limiting belief, he best way to deal with it is to remove that belief from yourself. Find a way to acknowledge it as not part of you. Otherwise, that belief will constantly bombard your mind with negative thoughts. And that should not be the case!

These limiting beliefs are manifestations of the happenings in the past that we should let go of. They're like a baggage that adds weight into our shoulders when are fully in control to let go of them and break free.

2) Logical Conclusion

What do you want your identity to be? And why? You can check out this episode of ours about Whydentity!

It's important to constantly ask ourselves these questions in order to stay in track. Imagine what will happen if you slowly let go of these limiting beliefs? Describe the infinite possibilities that will arise by unloading unnecessary baggages within yourself!

Ask yourself if you're living your life goals with your current job. Are you motivated to go to work or do you feel obliged to do so only because of your bills. And create a scenario in about 10-20 years from now. How do you see yourself from this point to that?

The logical conclusion is all about finding a logical way to define the possibilities when you live life with confidence and courage! And when you follow that path, all the good things will follow. So transform those beliefs into thoughts like, "I am deserving! I can do this!" And witness how this radiates into greater possibilities far from what you could imagine.

3) Test your barriers.

We may encounter a lot of barriers in achieving our goals. This can be in the form of money, mindset or anything else. But largely, it depends on how we respond to the circumstance. We can look at endeavours in a positive note to push past these challenges.

It's all in our subconscious. So how do we reverse the situation? Take opportunities. Forget the limiting belief and be optimistic!

Look at that something inside you that you have invested in, and use that gift to inspire other people and achieve success!

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, during the last few weeks we have tried to supply information, lifestyle tips and recipes that have been shown to help in the good fight. The response has been so heartwarming, and I’ve been learning a TON from the comments.

To help spread the love of this message, I brought in a very special guest this week. My friend Liana Werner-Gray. Native to Australia, Liana is author of the brand new book The Earth Diet. The Earth Diet was designed around Liana’s personal transformation, and an experience she encountered while healing herself from a pre-cancerous tumor! Now, we always advise that you take your doctors advice, and ask him or her if it’s safe to try a healthy and nutritious diet, alongside the application of modern medicine. In Liana’s case, she challenged herself to eat only “Foods From The Earth” for 365 days. In a very short time, the tumor had disappeared! Liana also used the recipes in her book to help her mother fight breast cancer, which has been in remission for 2 years! How amazing is that?

So this week we pulled a delicious detoxifying tea recipe from Liana’s book The Earth Diet with ingredients that have had radical effects fighting and treating cancer. Here’s whats in it:

Cloves
Ancient chinese tales claim NO ONE could approach the emperor without some cloves in their mouths to sweeten their breath. (I’ll remember that on my next trip to Hong Kong.) In the Molucca islands in Indonesia, a clove tree was planted for each child born. It was said in folklore that the child’s destiny was linked to the destiny of the tree from that point on.

Ginger
A symbol of power and wealth for thousands of years, Ginger has unprecedented claims throughout history of its medicinal, spiritual, physical, meta-physical and even sexual benefits. Romans of antiquity stated: “eat ginger, and you will love and be loved as in your youth.” Confucius claimed he ate ginger with every single meal.

Lemon
