I’ve I decided to take this individual through a rudimentary explanation of what toxins are, and what actually happens when we try to get rid of them.

Heavy toxins are far, far more serious, and more difficult to detox. As we learned, those metals build up in our brains, our fatty tissue, and our glands, calcifying, and blocking our natural process and productions. Over toxification of those heavy metals has been shown to result in a number of diseases including:

Bone Disease
Cognitive Blockage
ADHD
Dementia
Hormonal Imbalance
Cancerous Growths
Calcification of Glands

This calls for serious detoxification. You can find TONS of detox recipes for detoxifying pretty much everything, right here on this blog.

But what if it doesn’t work? What if you see no results? Well, there are 2 reasons you may not have any results:

You may just be “over-toxified.”

You may just be dehydrated. Make sure to be drinking 6-8 glasses of water each day AT LEAST.

So let’s make a refreshing, clean, detox smoothie recipe to clean out those heavy metals. Let’s drink this on a regular basis, and let’s be SURE TO DRINK PLENTY OF WATER during our challenge as well. Here’s what’s in it:

Dandelion Greens - High in Calcium and even Iron, these leafy greens reduce risk of cancer, macular degeneration, stroke, and help detoxify the liver.

Oranges - This potassium packed fruit strengthens our heart, lowers cholesterol, and reduces risk of kidney disease and kidney stones.

Lemons - Although technically acidic, lemons are alkaline-forming when they encounter bodily fluids in our mouths and our stomachs. They are rich in vitamin C, and as I mentioned, they aid in liver detoxification.

Celery - A rich source of anti-oxidants, celery also has been shown to lower blood pressure, and it is used around the world as a natural pain reliever.

Ginger - As we’ve discussed, ginger has been used the world over for thousands of years to treat disease in stomachs, skin, and even in treating and preventing cancers.

Parsley - A powerful blood purifier and blood builder, parsley has been shown to fight anemia, and atherosclerosis. Myristicin and apiole, found in parsley help detoxify our kidneys and urinary tracts.

Coconut Water - Coconut water contains minerals and electrolytes with a natural fragrance and flavor unlike any other. The cytokinins found in coconut water have shown to provide anti-aging effects and discourage clot formations in the body.

Handful Dandelion Greens
Half Cup Oranges
1 Stalk Celery
1 Knuckle Ginger
½ Lemon
Handful of Parsley

How do I stick with my fitness goals?

As I always say, motivation is an important factor in realising our goals. This is why it’s always better to have a support base such as family, friends and a fitness community that shares the same ambitions with you.

So here are the 5 steps to change your life for the better:

Step 1: Pre-contemplation

This is where we all came from. It’s where we begin. This is when we don’t see and acknowledge the need to change. While pre-contemplation must be totally overridden, this stage provides us with a point of reference.

Step 2: Contemplation

Then you come at the stage of contemplating about the reality of your state, your current situation. And you slowly realise that things are not happening the way you want it to be. The portrait of a future that you would like to paint is getting farther from your current deeds.

Step 3: Determination

Determination is an important part of your long-awaited twist. How can you take a 360-degree twist when you’re not fully determined to achieve it? It’s all about having the right attitude to confront a certain goal.

Step 4: Action

Action is the most important step. But it requires a lot of thinking to be able to perform the right action, which is why all the other prior steps are equally important. On the other side, when we do things without planning, we have greater tendency to fall.

Step 5: Maintenance

We know for a fact that successes can go spiral down as fast as how the success was achieved when the effort to maintain it is poor. It’s probably about complacency, or this mentality that since we already felt a sense of achievement, we’re done. Maintenance is just as valuable as action. When you can’t make a routine out of this successful behaviour, you will definitely fail in the end.

Extra Step: Relapse

When we feel like we have already achieved our goals and we’re able to maintain the success that we’ve dreamed of, we still face challenges sometimes. There are no guarantees.

Think about new trends, new aspirations, and definitely higher goals. You can achieve these if you stay inspired and happy with what you’re doing, so much so with what you’re seeing. When you feel good about yourself, you have the confidence to take things to the extra mile. And that when you realise that a genuine change in your life happened.

Reflecting back on my life, I can’t help but notice that my triumphs and victories, be them physical, emotional, or spiritual, all start at one place. Sure, I had the INTENTION of changing my ways. Of starting anew. Revolutionizing the way I treated my body, the way I viewed myself, the way I viewed the world, but I never did ANYTHING about it. I never got up off the couch. I never tossed out the harmful junk food in my cabinet. I never filtered out the harmful relationships in my life. I NEVER put my foot to the pavement. That is, until I was presented with a very, very powerful tool:

THE CHALLENGE.

Throughout history, incredible achievements have been made, and new heights have been reached, simply by the simplicity of one individual challenging another, or even challenging themselves. For example: Leonardo Da Vinci’s “The Last Supper” was a challenge from the Convent of Santa Maria. Isaac Newtons “3 Laws of Motion” were a result of a challenge from another scientist and even Napoleon’s conquests were rumoured to be inspired by nothing more than a little “locker room talk” amongst his military friends.

My point here is this: Boredom never inspired rapid growth or transformation for anybody, and no one changes their life because they suddenly “FEEL LIKE IT.” If you’ve been waiting to change your life until you “feel like it,” well I’d hate to be the bearer of bad news but, you probably never will. Setting goals, challenging ourselves, and having others hold us accountable is the BEST way to truly make a positive change for the better.

Here is my 7-step morning ritual:

Step 1: Be Thankful

I love making a gratitude list everyday, whether it is on my mind or it’s in the beads of the rosary. There’s so much to be thankful about life. Even the mere fact of waking up and having another chance to correct our mistakes is a big blessing that we need to be thankful for every single day.

Step 2: Figure Out 3 Tasks That Are Really Important the Next Day

Prioritization is key element of success. And when we prioritise right, we weed out unnecessary loads that kill our time. So try to factor out 3 tasks that you want to be completed before noon of the next day. Write it down in a sheet of paper or leave a sticky note in your computer so you won’t forget.

Step 3: Day Scripting

Being the scriptwriter of your life, tap on the power of your subconscious mind to be able to unlock possibilities. Start writing down in a journal the things that you want to become the next day. Maybe it has something to do with your attitude towards work, or behaviour towards relationships.

Step 4: Drink Water

Never underestimate the value of sating hydrated throughout the day. Water provides us with energy and if we don’t have enough water in our system, our bodies tend to react negatively and lowers our energy to do things.

Step 5: Exercise. Go to the Gym

While many people think that exercising is tiring, a right exercise is a necessity and ideally should be done during the morning. Exercise allows us to get rid of our body toxins by sweating. It also allows our joints and muscles to stretch out, preparing us for whatever activities we’re set to do.

Step 6: Meditation and Appreciation

Meditation has been popular these days precisely because of its indisputable healing powers. When we meditate, we reassess our life situations. We step back from all the toxins in this world. And then we start unlocking the realities of our lives and feel the inner energy inside us.

Step 7: Learn

What are you interested of? Where should you shift your attention to? Personal development. It’s one of the things that you should never forget to integrate in your morning ritual.

Follow these morning rituals and be the better version of yourself. Do this for straight 21 days and witness the change that’s happening in you.

Whether we have the best costume idea, or the biggest parties, or see the scariest movies, the plundering and pillaging on Halloween night always culminates in one ridiculous spoil: An ENORMOUS bag of candy, and everybody was a winner… well, except our teeth, and our health.

We all know the tragic toll that sugar takes on our bodies. Sugar accounts for over 70 different chronic diseases, yet the average American consumes over 130 pounds of sugar per year! What's making us consume all of this sugar, even though we all know it's wrong? CRAVINGS.

Some cravings come from a physical source. For example:

Since many cravings revolve around sugary foods in particular, scientists are beginning to relate sugar cravings with addiction to other substances. Recent brain scan tests show that sugar, alcohol, and tobacco all stimulate the SAME part of the brain.

If we ate or drank extremely sugary or rich foods during a fun experience as a child or young adult, that SAME food may eventually trigger those same hormones we experienced in the past. Much like many people struggling with addiction, the feeling our vice gives us may remind us of a happy or fun experience.

So what do we do to overcome our cravings? Ask yourself this question: Do I desire and crave this food for comfort? Is the experience of enjoying this meal or snack an ESCAPE from something else? Lastly, am I eating this to remind myself of a better time?

If you need, don't be scared to find a professional to talk to. If food is an escape, let's talk to someone about why you don't feel happy or fulfilled. If you eat cookies or donuts to remind you of your past, let's talk to someone about what changed, and what we need to deal with or who we need to forgive to move on, and be happy in the moment. If your craving brings you comfort, in place of a loved one or friend, it may be time to surround ourselves with more comforting people.

So while you're working on your soul, let's bust out the blender and make a smoothie that will fill us up, and smash all of our nutrient needs BEFORE all these darn holiday parties roll around. Who like's fruitcake anyway? (hold the cake, and just gimme some fruit I'd say.)

1 bunch of spinach
½ banana
5 pitted dates
1 cup pumpkin puree
¼ cup sunflower seeds
¼ cup chia seeds
½ avocado
2 cups of almond milk
2 tsp cinamon
2 tsp pumpkin spice
1 tsp celtic sea salt


Friends, it’s impossible to tackle the issue of cravings without touching on the Body, the Mind, and the Spirit. It’s a decision. A step. A leap in a direction that, at first, may seem scary and uncomfortable. It is a direction toward which our heart and soul have been beckoning since the day we were born. It’s easy to see that looking back, but I would have told you it was crazy nonsense 4 years ago. Turn your fear into fuel!

We all have life goals to pursue. We want to achieve something that could help us in fulfilling our purpose in this world. But while we're all driven with goals in life, we're also bombarded with a lot of reasons to hold back. Our motivations get clouded by doubts, fears, insecurities and LIMITING BELIEFS.

What are these limiting beliefs?

- the feeling of not being enough
- having to work hard for money
- the feeling of not being deserving
- the belief that you are unlucky

And the list goes on! These things that we think are simple hesitations lead to big loopholes in our lives. They prevent us from pursuing things that we could have taken if we have enough self-confidence. These limiting beliefs constrain us from making our dreams into reality!

Here is a 3-step process for you to get over these limiting beliefs!

1) Do not agree with these limiting beliefs.

When you hear or see yourself in a limiting belief, he best way to deal with it is to remove that belief from yourself. Find a way to acknowledge it as not part of you. Otherwise, that belief will constantly bombard your mind with negative thoughts. And that should not be the case!

These limiting beliefs are manifestations of the happenings in the past that we should let go of. They're like a baggage that adds weight into our shoulders when are fully in control to let go of them and break free.

2) Logical Conclusion

What do you want your identity to be? And why? You can check out this episode of ours about Whydentity!

It's important to constantly ask ourselves these questions in order to stay in track. Imagine what will happen if you slowly let go of these limiting beliefs? Describe the infinite possibilities that will arise by unloading unnecessary baggages within yourself!

Ask yourself if you're living your life goals with your current job. Are you motivated to go to work or do you feel obliged to do so only because of your bills. And create a scenario in about 10-20 years from now. How do you see yourself from this point to that?

The logical conclusion is all about finding a logical way to define the possibilities when you live life with confidence and courage! And when you follow that path, all the good things will follow. So transform those beliefs into thoughts like, "I am deserving! I can do this!" And witness how this radiates into greater possibilities far from what you could imagine.

3) Test your barriers.

We may encounter a lot of barriers in achieving our goals. This can be in the form of money, mindset or anything else. But largely, it depends on how we respond to the circumstance. We can look at endeavours in a positive note to push past these challenges.

It's all in our subconscious. So how do we reverse the situation? Take opportunities. Forget the limiting belief and be optimistic!

Look at that something inside you that you have invested in, and use that gift to inspire other people and achieve success!

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, during the last few weeks we have tried to supply information, lifestyle tips and recipes that have been shown to help in the good fight. The response has been so heartwarming, and I’ve been learning a TON from the comments.

To help spread the love of this message, I brought in a very special guest this week. My friend Liana Werner-Gray. Native to Australia, Liana is author of the brand new book The Earth Diet. The Earth Diet was designed around Liana’s personal transformation, and an experience she encountered while healing herself from a pre-cancerous tumor! Now, we always advise that you take your doctors advice, and ask him or her if it’s safe to try a healthy and nutritious diet, alongside the application of modern medicine. 1) Clarity of Intent

We all need clarity. But most of the time, the negativities around us cloud our thoughts with an unnecessary baggage. Clarity is key, not just in our thoughts but also in our intentions. And in order for us to be able to achieve success, we need clarity of mind and intent to be able to focus on our goals.

2) Independence

Independence is when we feel secure with our condition regardless of whether we receive help or not. We should be able to stand on our own feet in our battle to pursue the challenges of life.

3) Self-Confidence

Fear is hindrance in achieving access. They say that in life, we can only be as strong as our fears, doubts, and insecurities. And these same things hinder us from trying new things that are beyond our comfort zones. And when we look at successful people, they have taken extra steps to do things beyond what's usual. 4) Persistence

It's important to lay out key values for yourself before you do something. You have to know that deep within your heart, you're doing it for a reason.

5) Thick Skin

I asked Dr. Lo about my previous issues with weight loss, and why so many people can’t seem to lose weight, even while they’re doing all the “right” things. She had one simple explanation: CORTISOL.

We’ve all heard about this hormone in the past. Unbeknownst to me, our body still produces this chemical literally all day long. Cortisol helps soothe the body’s processes while under stress, and gives us a boost of energy when we really, really need it. TOO MUCH can lead to a spike in insulin, a decline in cognitive function, a suppressed immune system, and excess fat storage. Aha!

So, Dr. Lo gave me Five Reasons Why Our Cortisol Is Too High:

Too Much Stress - When we’re in danger or under stress, our hypothalamus tells our adrenal glands to release adrenalin and cortisol. When the danger has passed, everything should return to normal. However, when we feel “attacked” on a regular basis, multiple times per day, multiple days per week, cortisol levels begin to rise substantially.

Chronic Cardio - The concept here is that exercise is in fact a form of stress (albeit physical, and very controlled, but stress nonetheless.) It will encourage cortisol production. The longer you perform your exercise, the longer cortisol will be produced and the higher the risk of cortisol’s side effects.

Food Intolerances - Whether we have a diagnosed allergy with clear symptoms and external responses or not, many of us have food intolerances. Some foods that we eat every day may be irritating or enflaming our stomachs on a regular basis.

Lack of Sleep - As Dr. Lo stated in the video, typically, cortisol levels are higher in the morning, when we first wake up, and lower in the evening. Our bodies probably developed this way to motivate ourselves to seek food and shelter as soon as it was possible (aka, when the sun came up.)

Infections - These are far more common than we realize. Even right now, each of us are battling mini-infections in our mouths, eyes, ears, skin, teeth and other areas. Everytime we are under attack physically, in any way, our adrenal gland must send cortisol to the rescue.

Detoxification has been used to get rid of unhealthy toxins and buildup in our cells and tissues. It simply means eliminating toxins from your bloodstream, liver, kidneys, and intestines by means of a particular diet or juicing protocol.

While this question has been asked by tons and tons of Juicing Mom fans, the answer will always remain the same, and it is “Don’t”. Never do any detox program while breastfeeding or nursing to your babies. Pregnancy and breastfeeding are both essential period to intake as many nutrients as possible for the healthy growth and development of the baby. You need so much of the calories, protein, carbohydrates, essential fats, minerals, vitamins, fluid, and other important nutrients from different food sources and wide arrays of diet.

Another thing is, in the removal of toxins through a cleanse or detox, the waste will re-circulate into the blood stream and possibly absorb into the baby’s blood stream via the placenta or through the breast milk, this is certainly not recommended and could be harmful to the baby.
When is the best time to do detox?

Detoxing should be done before and after pregnancy. Doing a cleanse or a reset a few months prior to conception is most essentially recommended as juicing can boost fertility and may also improve the health of the baby, and the parents.

Important nutrients vital for Mothers and their babies during pregnancy and breastfeeding:

Fulvic Acid – this is one of the needed nutrients that many mothers overlook. This important nutrient helps in the development of the baby helping it ward off toxins and other harmful substances that causes birth deficiencies.

Zinc – deficiency has been associated with birth defects and low birth weights. Sources include nuts, seeds, seafood, meats, egg yolk and whole grains.

Vitamin D – there are numerous studies associating this deficiency with pre-term labour, low birth weight, pre-eclampsia, poor growth, bone fragility and an increased incidence of auto-immune disease.

Vitamin K and C – it is estimated that many women are vitamin K deficient during pregnancy.

Eating too much fat can also make us more likely to put on weight, because foods that are high in fat are high in energy too. Not all fat is bad. We need some fat in our diet because it helps the body absorb certain nutrients. The brain is 65-70% of fat, and it is the natural food source of the brain. Fat is a source of energy as well as some vitamins (such as vitamins A and D), and provides essential fatty acids that the body can’t make itself.

How much fat is too much fat?

It actually depends on how your body metabolizes fat. Some people people are better in metabolizing carbohydrates, and some people struggle to process carbohydrates in their body. First, you need to know how many calories you should eat each day. Once you know this, you can determine how many grams of fat and saturated fat you can eat without exceeding your limits for fat. These limits are 25% to 35% of calories from fat and less than 7% of calories from saturated fat.

Coconut Oil
Coconut oil contains medium chain triglycerides (MCTs) that have various benefits including: antimicrobial benefits and aiding in digestion and nutrient delivery. MCTs produce ketones that can protect the cardiovascular system, kidneys, colon, pancreas, increase metabolism, anti-cancer properties, and helps with diabetes symptoms. Avocados
Avocados are brimming with ‘good’ fats. You may have heard that you should avoid avocados due to their high fat content. This is not quite the case. Avocados are loaded not only with fat but also with fiber, and is equal to two bowls of oatmeal.

½ cup water

Instructions

1) Prepare the banana, water, cheese and 2 cups of organic frozen berries.
2) For the pomegranate, here is a hack in getting the seeds out from the fruit. Cut it into half. Then put it into the water. Peel them out in the water. You should see how the seeds are falling out. Grab a strainer and you shall now have your pomegranate seeds.
3) Now that you have all of the ingredients, combine them and blend until smooth.

Welcome to another Saturday Strategy!

Ok, so we've been listening to the community quite a bit lately. We've been hearing your concerns about finding enough time to juice, making it affordable, finding super foods for that optimum nourishment, and we've been creating some videos and articles to help tackle those obstacles.

Today, we're taking on the jet-setters. Maybe your job takes you around the country, or around the world. Maybe you took a trip to Latin America and fell in love with a half-Guatemalan while sharing a delicious Pitaya. Or maybe you, like me, are on an endless quest for Super-foods like Ashwaganda or Matcha.

Regardless, the airport health options are dismal at best, and I'm going to share some simple tricks and tactics I've developed over the last few years to help.

Now the struggle with traveling healthy is two-fold. Number one: Airports are full of quick junk food snacks, drinks and fast food, with almost no healthy options. Number two: Airports are full of germs.

Sure, you can pack your juicer in your luggage. You can also walk around with a gas mask or a space suit to avoid germs. If you don't want to scare people or get tackled and cavity searched by security, here are some quick tips to eat healthy, and boost your immune system while traveling:


#1. Remain-hydrated - Some studies suggest dehydration can reduce immunity and increase our risk of infection, even for a short period of time. Also, humidity in an airplane cabin sometimes drops to around 20%. The last thing we want is a weakened immune system while we sit in a dry cabin, with itchy eyes, and a dry throat, next to screaming, sick babies. Drink lots of water.

#2. Oil pulling - Supposedly, 50% of air inside of an airplane cabin is recycled. There are disagreements about airborne pathogens, but to be better safe than sorry, I like to do some oil pulling after flying. Oil pulling is basically swishing some coconut oil around in your mouth for about 15 minutes. This creates a vacuum effect in your mouth and sinuses, pulling the bacteria from hard to reach places. This has been known to reduce migraines and sinus infections.

#3. Rose hips Vitamin C - Particularly high in vitamin C, carotenoids, and beta-carotene, Rose Hips have been shown to treat and prevent colds, flus, and other common diseases. They are also used in treating stomach irritation and ulcers.

#4. Lacrosse Ball - Lacrosse Balls are very portable, affordable and can be used for massaging and "rolling out" your muscles in a cramped airplane. If your feet are sore from walking, you can remove your shoe, and roll the ball along the sole of your feet. You can also use this on your glutes by "sittin and rocking" on the ball. You will get some awkward stares, but I've found it to be a great ice-breaker for talking about health.

#5. Here is this week’s Recipe Breakdown

Handful of Mint

Mint has been traditionally used for relieving abdominal cramps, bad breath and sore throats. Mint promotes digestion, helps with irritable bowel syndrome, and colonic muscle spasms. This is nature’s stomach soother. Wake up and feel great all day.

1/2 Teaspoon of Chlorella

Cultivated pyrenoidosa strain is the superior alternative to other harsh, chemically processed and indigestible Chlorella products on the market. It has no artificial colors, flavors, or chemicals.

1/2 Teaspoon Spirulina

They have listened to others and haven't followed their own bliss. Many people make the mistake of sacrificing their time for something that they don't really believe in and then wonder why they are not 100% happy!

Cucumber
Cucumbers are mainly composed of water (about 95%). It helps flush out harmful toxins out from your body. The skin of cucumbers are composed of many important minerals like silica. Silica is critical for maintaining healthy bones, cartilage, and connective tissues.

Parsley

Where do we get protein? And how much protein do we need every day?

Protein is an important aspect of our body that we need to maintain. In fact, hair and nails are mostly made of protein. Your body uses it to build and repair tissue.

Here's a very easy process in order to know the amount of protein that you need every single day!

• Take your weight in pounds.
• Divide it by two to get the kilogram equivalent - this is the amount of protein you need per day.
• Divide that number into your three meals and two snacks!

For example, if you weigh 100 pounds, you would need about 50 kilograms of protein per day. If you weight 170 lbs, you would need to have about 85 kg of protein per day. Divide this amount of protein across your meals.

If your diet is lacking in protein, your body tend to utilize the protein stored in your body tissues. It's so important to know whether you are protein deficient.

6 Warning Signs of Protein Deficiency:

1. Puffy Cheeks

Puffy cheeks actually highlight a protein-carbohydrate imbalance. Puffy cheeks are actually a result of swollen salivary glands (parotid glands).

2. Swollen Eyes

Swollen eyes can be annoying because it can be itchy, can lead to dark circles and even eye floaters.

3. Swollen Hands

Aside from the face, swelling can also extend to other areas in the body. The explanation to this is quite simple.

Protein deficiency can also affect our overall state. This can also be an offshoot result of low energy, inability to handle stress well and moodiness, which are signs of lack of protein. Protein is there to stabilize the sugar levels that we have in our body. I

Lack of protein causes the skin to dry and break out in rashes. Consequently, the skin becomes more prone to sunburns.

A protein-rich diet can do a lot to solve a problem on protein deficiency. If you are protein deficient, you need to aim for a 40-30-30 body component division - 40% of protein, 30% carbohydrate and 30% fat. Gastric acid is one of the main secretions of the stomach. It consists mainly of hydrochloric acid and acidifies the stomach content to a pH of 1 to 2. Also, it acts as a barrier against microorganisms to prevent infections and is important for the digestion of food.

Hydrochloric acid activates pepsinogen into the enzyme pepsin, which then helps digestion by breaking the bonds linking amino acids, a process known as proteolysis. In addition, many microorganisms have their growth inhibited by such an acidic environment, which is helpful in preventing infection.

Once we reach the age of 50, the stomach produces less and less hydrochloric acid every year. In such conditions, there is greater risk of infections of the digestive tract (such as infection with Vibrio or Helicobacterbacteria).

Today, we'll be making a concoction that we can include in our daily meals to help build our stomach acid.

Ingredients

- 1 Lemon
- 3 Knuckles of Ginger (peeled)
- 1/2 Teaspoon of Regular Sea Salt

Balancing your pH is a simple way to improve the health of your entire body. It will assist in cancer prevention, weight loss, reduction of inflammation, improved heart and bone health, and better energy levels. We are looking to see how acidic or alkaline your body chemistry is. The blood pH never changes, which is why we are looking at urine and saliva pH to see how hard your body may or may not be working to maintain the blood pH.

pHydrionpH Balance

pH stands for power of hydrogen, which is a measurement of the hydrogen ion concentration in the body. The total pH scale ranges from 1 to 14, with 7.25 - 7.45 pH range considered to be neutral. A pH less than 7 is said to be acidic and solutions with a pH greater than 7 are basic or alkaline.

Acidosis or high acidity can deplete bones because the body has to steal alkalizing minerals (especially calcium) from bones to keep the blood from dropping into the acid range. Thus acid/alkaline balance may be relevant to diseases such as osteoarthritis and osteoporosis. It has an impact on everything from children's growth rates (excess acidity slows the growth process) to decreased bone and muscle mass and the formation of kidney stones in adults. Other research indicates that an acid imbalance may be linked to heart disease and diabetes.

Alkalosis is when too much bicarbonate is in your blood, causing excessively low acidity. Symptoms of metabolic or respiratory alkalosis include irritability, muscular twitching or cramps. Treatment involves replacing fluids to achieve acid balance or slowing your breathing in the event of respiratory alkalosis.

HOW TO DO THE pH TEST:

Step 1: Get some pH strips.
Step 2: As soon as you wake up put a trip in your mouth for 3 seconds in the morning
Step 3: Match your pH in the corresponding range

pH can also be tested with your urine. This is done by peeing on a strip twice in the morning. The first test should be done at 5 AM, pee on the strip, and go back to sleep. The second morning urine is the second time, and is more accurate. Do this for 6 consecutive days to give you the ideal of your body's pH, and if you need to shift your diet.

Hydrion pH Testing Strips are available in most drugstores, and some health. This is color-coded with the general range that is easy to use, and match on. It is very simple to do, and takes less than a minute of your time. You can use this as a guide to balance your body's pH.

The management of the pH factor is important to our body's primary regulatory systems especially in breathing, circulation and body waste eliminations. Food can help you achieve pH balance. Highly acidic foods include prunes, blackberries, chocolate, walnuts, beef and cheese. Foods with high alkalinity include watermelon, asparagus, spinach and olive oil. Eat a variety of fruits, vegetables and grains to counter your acidic and high alkaline pH. Always hydrate with water daily, limit your alcohol use and follow medication instructions on the label to prevent high acid pH.

You may have come across the topic of candida in various health and wellness forums. Candida is a form of fungus, and a very small amount of it lives in our bodies. In very small amounts, Candida is very helpful, as it aids in digestion and nutrient absorption. However, an overgrowth of this fungus / yeast is called Candida albicans. It is a serious health condition as Candida can proliferate throughout your digestive system. This compromises your immune and digestive system (causing liver and bowel dysfunction). An overgrowth of candida can also lead to skin rashes. Candida is caused by an opportunistic microflora which over proliferates in the body when the conditions are right, such as an acidic, damp and sugary environment.

1. Fill up a glass of water (half way)
2.Spit on it (Dime size)
3. Watch it 2 or 3 times (for over 45 minutes)

Does the spit sink to the bottom or grow legs into the glass of water? If it does, that means that you have candida overgrowth.

There are many ways to be Candida-free but effectively treating candida involves stopping the yeast overgrowth, restoring the friendly bacteria that usually keeps them in check, and healing your gut so that candida growth can be controlled. Getting rid of the candida overgrowth primarily requires a change in diet to a low carbohydrate diet. Sugar is what feeds yeast, so eliminating sugar in all of its simple forms like candy, desserts, alcohol and flours would be ideal.

Also, eliminating all fermented foods and reducing to only one cup a day of the more complex carbohydrates such as grains, beans, fruit, bread, pasta, and potatoes will prevent the Candida from increasing in number. A study done onpostoperative pain relief showed that combining lavender essential oil vapor into the oxygen significantly reduced the amount of pain experienced, versus those patients only revived with oxygen after a major surgery.

Chamomile Oil

Being a stomachic, Chamomile oil tone up the stomach and ensure its proper function. They also promote the secretion of digestive juices into the stomach and facilitate digestion. Being Hepatic, which means being good for the liver, they ensure good health of the liver and the proper flow of bile from it. They are also considered Cholagogues, meaning that they increase the secretion of Hydrochloric Acid, bile and enzymes in the stomach, thereby promoting digestion.

Epsom Salt

The sulfates in Epsom salt help flush toxins and heavy metals from the cells, easing muscle pain and helping the body to eliminate harmful substances. Your skin is a highly porous membrane and adding the right minerals to your bathwater triggers a process called reverse osmosis, which actually pulls salt out of your body, and harmful toxins along with it.

Baking soda

Another benefit of baking soda is its ability to promote a more alkaline PH balance in the body. Alkalinity is the reverse of acidity. Acidity is necessary for effective digestion of food, but an overall alkaline PH in your body is considered healthier, because many diseases thrive in an acidic environment. Diseases of a degenerative nature, like osteoporosis, arthritis, and cancer, have been associated with a chronically high acidity level in the body.

Ginger

Ginger may also help reduce chronic pain, by lowering your levels of hormones that induce inflammation. A study published in 2005, suggests that ginger could lessen pain more effectively than non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.

Hello Fitlifers!

Welcome to another Mindset Monday.

I have a question for you. What will you do in order to deliver a life worth living?

This is not new. I know that a lot of you are somehow stuck at a point in your life when you feel like you're losing the direction once again.

There are those who lose motivation after achieving their goals. But this shouldn't be the case. You worked hard to achieve that point of success. You need to work extra hard to maintain that fitness in you and the overall health that you have. You need to find extra motivation and impose more discipline towards yourself.

Now, I'm going to share to you 5 effective ways to reset your health goals.

1) Recommit to a Goal

Set a new goal every 15-30 days. Take a date stamp, mark your calendar, list it in your reminders, etc. -- everything that you can do to make sure that you can achieve your goals within those time frames. While others may look at this in a very simplified context, recommitting to a goal is a process.

When we achieve our goal, our bodies have this subconscious command to look for a new goal. We have to tap on that command to establish a clear path to where we are heading. And when we know within ourselves that we are trudging the right direction, we need to do everything to seize the best out of life and achieve our goals.

2) Do a Cleanse Again

Never settle for less. You should look forward by asking, "When will I do my next cleanse?", along with many other questions that you can ask for yourself. You know what, Fitlifer, many people who succeeded in their pursuit of health tried the Alpha Reset, and continued doing many juice cleanses after. It gave them that sense of empowerment that because they're able to conquer it 0nce, they can conquer it over and over again until it becomes a part of their routine.

3) Reassess the Mess

Get rid of all your old junk.

There's no point of accumulating all the clutters in your life that continue to pre-occupy your thoughts. It's pretty the same achieving focus in your working table. If things are messy and occupied, you can't focus with your work. And so, you have to clean it out.

So break free from that preoccupation Fitlifer and re-assess the mess. If you have things in your house that you haven't been using, sell them to the warehouse. If you have accessories and clothes that are not that useful to you, open up a garage sale. If you're looking for more satisfying options, why don't you donate them to the charity? By doing so, you're not just helping your overall state of well-being, you're helping other people's lives.

4) Reset With Rest

Stop working and thinking too much. Take a rest. Don't even overthink of things at all. You know what they say, 'overthinking is an ingredient 0f sadness'.

Weekend is key to your health freedom. Make use of this opportunity to never bother yourself about work. Do the things that you love doing, or things you want to do. You can go skydiving, mountain trekking, camping, karate , and a number of other stuff that you enjoy. You will realize then what you're missing in life. Define rest in your own means. Break free!

5) Tap Into The Troop

Create this awesome synergy with somebody. Join a challenge with a group. Make it a collaborative objective that you want to conquer. You might even consider taking an inspiration from your friend, comrade or colleague. It will be a lot easier to conquer your health goals when you know you have someone by your side!

Health is what matters the most. By resetting your health goals, you're giving yourself a chance to re-commit to a happier life that is just worth living.

The Juice Recipe That's Making You Fat

Hey Fitlifer,

Just the other day I was speaking with a client of mine and I came to a conclusion that I wanted to share with you.

First, let's focus on my client's problem. He calls me up and says "Drew, I've been doing everything with your program, but I seem to actually be gaining fat! What am I doing wrong?!?"

The very first thing I asked him was "Well, what are your typical juice recipes?" He goes on to tell me that he juices apples, mangoes, pineapples, carrots, beets, strawberries, etc. Can you tell what's wrong with these?

IT'S ALL FRUIT!

Fruit is tasty and everything, but juicing primarily fruit is one of the worst juicing mistakes you can make. Why is it such a bad thing? Let me shed a bit of light on it for ya.

I want to start by sharing some stats with you...

Did you know that 1 teaspoon of sugar weakens your immune system for 4 hours?? Now, everybody knows that a weakened immune system makes it much harder for your body to fight off sickness and infection, but let's talk about something you didn't know.

When your immune system is weakened, your fat-burning potential essentially drops to zero! Let's take a look at that apple as an example.

One apple has approximately 16 grams of sugar. 4 grams of sugar equals 1 teaspoon. This means that your standard apple has 4 teaspoons of sugar! Uh oh...that means your immune system is in a weakened state for quite a while. Now, add in the fact that most of these fruit juice recipes don't just have 1 apple. They have 2 apples, some carrots, half a pineapple, 1 beet...you get the picture. That is a TON OF SUGAR IN ONE JUICE!

No wonder why people gain weight when they drink these juices. As I've told many of my clients that use The Juice with Drew System (http://juicewithdrew.com/jfw-97), you're going to want to follow the 90/10 rule: 90% veggies and 10% fruits. For fruits I recommend trying to only juice things like lemons and limes; they don't have a lot of sugar and help put your body in an alkaline state. This state improves digestion and actually helps you burn fat.

As you train your tastebuds, and it usually takes about 2 weeks, you will find you don't actually need sugary ingredients to feel satisfied. This only works if you commit to juicing mostly vegetables so that is exactly what I encourage all my clients to do.

Hey Fitlifer,

Too often in life we worry about everything except the here and the now. We worry about what the future may hold. We worry about past mistakes that might affect us. We worry about things that are, quite frankly, out of our control. That's why this week we are going to focus on being more present...

When we are present with ourselves, we live as authentic beings, we are able to harmoniously interact with the universe in that exact moment and in this moment...everything becomes clear and amazing things happen.

So how to we become more present?

Follow these 3 simple rules:

You have to see the world through your "wow goggles". As you go through your day, try to ignore all the other thoughts that pop into your head. Just look around and accept how amazing everything is around you in that exact moment.
Utilize your 5 senses and get outside of your thoughts. We often forget everything about a situation and fail to live in the moment because we are wrapped up in our own thoughts. Remind yourself to experience every situation with all 5 senses.
You have to forget your story. Forgive. There are things holding you back from becoming your all. Let go of your story. When you can tap into your own present awareness, you start to see the world differently (in a pretty magical way).
Being present is so much more than living in the moment. It's being aware of everything around you and seeing the world in a new light. I promise you that if you can practice these 3 things every single day, you will start to go through life, accept what is around you and just think...WOW!
