In Jesus the Bridegroom , Brant Pitre once again taps into the wells of Jewish Scripture and tradition, and unlocks the secrets of what is arguably the most well-known symbol of the Christian faith: the cross of Christ. In this thrilling exploration, Pitre shows how the suffering and death of Jesus was far more than a tragic Roman execution. Instead, the Passion of Christ was the fulfillment of ancient Jewish prophecies of a wedding, when the God of the universe would wed himself to humankind in an everlasting nuptial covenant. To be sure, most Christians are familiar with the apostle Paul’s teaching that Christ is the ‘Bridegroom’ and the Church is the ‘Bride’. But what does this really mean? And what would ever possess Paul to compare the death of Christ to the love of a husband for his wife? If you would have been at the Crucifixion, with Jesus hanging there dying, is that how you would have described it? How could a first-century Jew like Paul, who knew how brutal Roman crucifixions were, have ever compared the execution of Jesus to a wedding? And why does he refer to this as the “great mystery” (Ephesians 5:32)? As Pitre shows, the key to unlocking this mystery can be found by going back to Jewish Scripture and tradition and seeing the entire history of salvation, from Mount Sinai to Mount Calvary, as a divine love story between Creator and creature, between God and Israel, between Christ and his bride—a story that comes to its climax on the wood of a Roman cross. In the pages of Jesus the Bridegroom, dozens of familiar passages in the Bible—the Exodus, the Song of Songs, the Wedding at Cana, the Woman at the Well, the Last Supper, the Crucifixion, and even the Second Coming at the End of Time—are suddenly transformed before our eyes. Indeed, when seen in the light of Jewish Scripture and tradition, the life of Christ is nothing less than the greatest love story ever told. Jesus the Bridegroom: The Greatest Love Story Ever Told Unlock the secrets of the cross of Christ Why Jesus' death was far more than just a Roman execution Drawn deeply from Jewish Scripture and tradition Come to a deeper love for Christ
In 1981, the year after Ted Turner founded CNN, a simple nun using her entrepreneurial instincts and $200 for seed money, launched what would become the world's largest religious media empire in the garage of a Birmingham, Alabama monastery. Today, EWTN offers twenty-four hours of English and Spanish television programming reaching 105 million viewers around the globe. How did a crippled nun achieve so much and reach so many? Born Rita Rizzo in Canton, Ohio, in 1923, Mother Angelica was abandoned by her father and raised in poverty by a mother who suffered suicidal depressions. Awakened to the power of prayer, at age 21 she vowed to dedicate her life to God and become a cloistered nun. She expected to spend her life hidden from the world. But Rita's faith compelled her to unlikely endeavors, accomplishing what the highest echelon of the Catholic Church could not. Raymond Arroyo was given unprecedented access to Mother Angelica's letters, diaries, medical records, family, friends and foes, as well as one-on-one interviews over a three-year period. This engrossing biography traces Mother Angelica's tortured rise to success and exposes for the first time the fierce opposition she faced, inside and outside of her church. It is an inspiring story of survival and proof that one woman's faith can move more than mountains. Only weeks after completing the final interview for this biography, Mother Angelica suffered a stroke that stole her speech. Within are her reflections, her powerful life lessons and thoughts on her remarkable life. Includes 8 pages of pictures! “A rattling good story of fear, faith, courage, and bulldog tenacity, beautifully told. The drama of Mother Angelica's life is a powerful reminder that the extraordinary lies just beyond the ordinary - if we have eyes to see and ears to hear.” - George Weigel, author of Witness to Hope: the Biography of Pope John Paul II See also: Mother Angelica - The Remarkable Story of a Nun, Her Nerve, and a Network of Miracels (Book) 10 CD Audio Book read by Raymond Arroyo Approx. running time: 13 hours
Under Angel Wings is the true story of a young girl in Brazil who saw and heard her Guardian Angel during most of her life. The book is filled with real-life anecdotes which are edifying, moving and often humorous. Cecy (See-see) Cony (1900-1937) tells story after story of how her Guardian Angel - whom she calls her "New Friend" - kept her from lying, stealing, revenge, immodesty, and from watching certain movies. She also describes how he protected her in moral dangers which she did not even understand, and how he aided her when she got into trouble because she was a "simpleton," as she puts it. Most beautiful of all, she relates how her Guardian Angel taught her to make sacrifices for Jesus and guided her in practicing acts of charity. Cecy describes many incidents of temptation from her youth. In each one, we see the beautiful way in which her Guardian Angel led his little charge to perfect contrition for her faults and turned all these difficult situations to good. Under Angel Winds reveals God's great love and care for His children on earth. It reminds us that He has also given each of us our own "New Friend" who has a similar, even if less visible, love and care for us. "My sisters read a lot. This book, they say, is undoubtedly the best....I think this book is awesome....I think you and your children would benefit from this book A LOT. I recommend it highly, highly." - Mother Angelica, PCPA Under Angel Wings: The True Story of a Young Girl and Her Guardian Angel Written by a girl who was blessed to see her Guardian Angel Beautiful and inspiring A wonderful way to help draw you closer to your own Guardian Angel

It was one of the most disgraceful incidents in University of Michigan football history, and ultimately, one of the most inspiring. This film tells the long-forgotten story of the 1934 game between The University of Michigan and Georgia Tech. When the Yellow Jackets agreed that season to come to Ann Arbor, Michigan for a game, they insisted on one condition - Michigan had to sit out the lone African-American player on the team, a talented end from Detroit named Willis Ward. Many of Wards teammates were outraged when athletic officials at The University of Michigan agreed to the demand. The most outraged Wolverine was Wards roommate; a lineman from Grand Rapids named Gerald Ford. Ford threatened to quit the team in response to Wards benching - and changed his mind only after Ward convinced him that he had to play. The incident also galvanized the Michigan student body and Ann Arbor community, which held loud and vocal protests against the decision to keep Ward out of the game. In the end, the Ward incident helped The University of Michigan turn an important corner in race relations, and made an impact on Gerald Ford that stayed with him all the way to the White House. When Ford passed away in 2006, President George W. Bush referenced the Willis Ward incident in his eulogy. Run Time - 57 Minutes

Full of Grace tells the story of the Blessed Mother's final days on earth. Surrounded by Peter and the remaining Apostles, she recounts the beauty and mystery of her experiences with her Son. During her last earthly days, she helps the early Church regain their original encounter with the Lord. For nearly a thousand years, monks of the Carthusian Order have withdrawn from the world so they can place themselves in the presence of God. In these pages, the monk Augustin Guillerand reveals the secret of the Carthusian’s remarkable prayer. Obviously, this way of praying excludes quick Our Father’s and hasty Hail Mary’s, but it also requires that we do more than pause and say our prayers slowly. In fact, the Carthusians know that the prayer of the presence of God isn’t primarily a question of speed or even of speech. Like love, it’s not so much a deed as an attitude; a habit of tranquil listening that allows God to enter our souls by all paths and to establish His presence there. Though this is no step-by-step manual (listening can’t be reduced to steps), you’ll learn where you must begin and how to proceed if you’re finally to bring to maturity in your own soul the habit of tranquil listening that’s essential for all those who would know God and love Him as they ought. To deal with the leprosy problem in the Hawaiian Islands in 1872, sufferers were relentlessly exiled to Molokai, a barren isle off the coast. There they lived in miserable surroundings, abandoned by the outside world. To alleviate their fate, Father Damien was the first priest to go to Molokai. His bishop's last words were that "he must not touch anyone." Little by little, Damien earned the trust of the lepers, and eventually, his appeals for nuns and supplies resonated throughout the world, much to the displeasure of his superiors. Even when Damien got sick himself, his energy did not abate, and he carried on working for the well-being of his "fellow lepers" to the end. When he crumbled during Mass, he was taken to his own hospital to die. All the residents gathered at the entrance to pray for their Father... DVD FEATURES - Languages: English. Subtitles: English.
